FR 81 (Tellico...North Carolina) closed?

We went up there this weekend to do a little dirt roading. My primary destination was FR 81 from Joyce Kilmer back to North River road. Drove across the skyway to get there and found it gated. Log truck was coming out, and he shut the gate behind him.
We drove back on the skyway to the other end and it was gated as well. I've been there many times before.

Do any of you locals know if it's closed for logging, a seasonal thing, or for good? It was a great road.

Then we went to the old ORV area to go up what was left of tail 6. We did it last summer, but this time it was gated as well.

We rode upper 2 as far as you can go, and did the Holly Flats loop. Found a couple of other trails to make a day.
