This has been talked about before, and I am not sure of the outcome. I run 285's on mine also, I have put the flaps on to see the rub area's. BAD thing I would need a few of each to get the proper cutting areas (taking to much off).

After sitting any looking at the problem and thinking, I person could take rubber, half the thickness of a bed matt and fab something using the holes in the flares as a mount point, if it would support it. Or come up with something (1" alum bent to the contour to suooprt flap) to mount to at least a couple of the srew holes. This would give some protection.

The other idea more $$$ of course is to go to a place and have Line-X, or Rhino lining installed (sprayed) on the areas in question. After talking to the shop here, alot of cost would be in taping the area, making sure overspray does not go all over. Since I know the guy I asked if I could tape the area's and scratch the cost. NO GO the reason had to do with insurance in the shop.

    getting there....
i second the idea of using a bedliner coating on the lower rockers. it will look cool, plus it will be very durable. you can even get the diy kit's from herculiner, and it will save you some money!!

Performance products used to sell a nice set of flaps, (JDM maybe) they had a small cable attached to the bottom of the flap that pulled the flap up if you needed to.

if those flaps are anything like the Jaos type that is some big bucks for flaps.

May look into semi flaps, in black, of course cut down to the size and shape I wanted. But personally I have had issue with kicking up debris, may need to turn the radio down.:D
