Well I've been trying to keep track of everything I've done to the truck but keep forgetting. So, I'll post it here in the case that someone may be interested. After moving to Idaho in 2014, I decided that the time had come to sell my 2005 Subaru WRX and get back into a truck to suit my needs. I found a 2009 Tacoma 2.7 4x4 SR5 in Silver Streak Mica with 39k on it and purchased it in May of 2015. The truck was a one owner vehicle and came with all service records through Toyota. I suspect the previous was/ still is a member on the forums due to some small tinkering I found on it such as the anytime fog lights mod.

I added a Blue Seas fuse panel under the hood and a switch holder in the overhead.




Fast forward to May of 2016, I got rid of the light bar and added some ditch lights. I also found a color matched grill.


Aside from basic maintenance, mods didn’t pick up for real until the end of September 2017. I ditched the spacer lift for some Bilstein 5100’s and Head Strong Off-road Springs in the front with a 1.5” AAL in the rear. I added an ARB bumper and Smittybilt XRC 9.5k with synthetic rope. I put pods in the fog locations as well as amber pods on top. I got rid of the Toyo AT’s and went with Les Schwabs Back Country MT’s paired with Pro Comp 17” Rockwell’s.






February of 2018, added BAMF LCA skids.



March of 18’, operation Regear. Nitro 4.56’s and an Air locker. Front diff installed, awaiting 3rd member and locker to show up from ECGS. Also shown, a plate relocation built up by a member on here.


Some Weather Techs I bought from a member showed up today. Just in time for winter to be over.

Got the new 3rd member installed!

 

Had some extra time tonight, so I wired in the 2 switches. Just have to plug the last wire into each for the compressor and locker now.

 

Mounted up the compressor and ran the air line to the rear. I can honestly say nothing so far has kicked my ass quite like running that airline has haha that plastic tube is not easy to work with at all.

 

Added a gauge and line hookup off the manifold.

Same here are you still enlisted or get that FAA dream job I’m stuck in contract world over here but life is good.

 

Still enlisted, I’ve got 1.5yr left on the contract before deciding what I want to do. I doubt I’ll be staying in, especially without any re up bonus now. So, FAA bids here I come. I really wouldn’t mind a yr in the desert tho either on a contract....$$$

 

Dewett pay the truck off an more mod money the age limit now for VRA is 35. I would of done the desert but wife said no but contract is really good money an benefits not bad. If you got any questions about it send me a PM currently working for RVA.

Very true. I got halfway through my dual rating process here before getting yanked back to the tower for a lack of manning and CT bodies. So, that sucks

 

That arac rating would of helped you immensely if you apply for a dod gig I never had the opportunity. We had a arac in Iraq but tower chief wouldn’t let us cross train I’m still salty about it.

 

I hear that. We’re on the 4th Chief since I’ve been here, he’s the only one that’s for the dual rating opportunity.
