Yeah I was commenting on the video- about 9:50 or so he says it sucked. He's also up several times during the night noting the temp so I'm guessing he was waking up cold.

I'll be the first to admit I've had a couple of cold weather trips that were on the less-than-fun side- do enough of them and it occasionally happens.

Waking up cold sucks I learned how to sleep really warm and really push the limits of my sleep system but that comes with many yrs of experimenting and some really remote camping and hiking. But having a nice warm down bag there is no substitute.

Just got started building my platform/drawers. Platform is almost complete, gonna paint it black and put water sealant on it. Still trying to decide how I wanna build the drawers so any feedback is appreciated!

Yes. And I really need the entire tailgate to fit when lying down. 5’ beds are silly. I’m 6’3”. I am going to build extensions for the sleeping platform, which sucks, but it will work.

If you have a Leer cap with the adjustable roof racks then I think you can buy the net right on ebay or Amazon; the net mounts attach to the bolts that hold the rack channel to the roof.

Throw some endcaps on those crossbars. When they rust they'll drip on your glass and body and leave a residue that is impossible to get off.

All that room in the cab, and no room in the bed.

But, then I would have more people that want a ride. :)
Access cab limits that, but I get the storage space.
    No kids, no pets, etc.

I spray some Boeshield inside my bars before putting the endcaps on. Also, if you can find them, there are screw tightened caps with a lip that helps keep straps from sliding off if you load near the ends of the bars. If you do Boeshield give it a day or two to dry before reinstalling on your truck or it'll drip out.

I'm getting my Tradesman top installed on Wednesday so it's time to get serious about building out the truck bed for camping adventures. This is revision 800 since I spent a whole lot of time designing the first round without consideration for the tailgate. :annoyed:

Anyway, here's what I have so far. For those looking at long drawer slides, I found some 60" heavy duty slides for $158 per pair here. I'll report back when they actually come in. Shipping cost a small fortune also so you really can't win.

The main goal for this build out is to create a sleeping platform, have a small kitchen/pantry, and have a place to store our clothes/gear. I also wanted to be able to access the bed while the "kitchen" was in full swing. I also always feel like you can never have enough counter space so I've tried to come up with clever ways to create more. I'm not sure how well I'm going to like how the stove is positioned but we'll give it a try and if we hate it, we'll change it.

Here's it all closed up. Planning on 3/4" ply for everything. Maybe marine grade, definitely carpeted. Each drawer "cabinet" will be removable so that it doesn't weigh a metric ton. Side panels will be removable to access below but nothing fancy on those.
    CLOSED.jpg

The driver side is the "kitchen" drawer. The cabinet built into the truck top will house all our dishware (yes I'm copying @Toynado who was generous enough to provide insight on this truck top for me!)
    DRAWER OUT.jpg

The front of the door opens and functions as a table support for the top of the drawer...
    DRAWER OPEN.jpg
    STOVE TOP FLIP.jpg

Then the top flips over to make a larger table. Telescoping poles act as table legs for this part. A piano hinge runs the full length along each table top.

    STOVE IN.jpg

The stove drawer slides out. The next drawer space down houses two drawer tops, one for each drawer compartment. Remove the top drawer top to reveal the second drawer top (highlighted below), then move it to the position above the stove. Then replace the drawer top on the second compartment.

    DRAWER TOP MOVE.jpg
    DRAWER TOP FINAL.jpg

Thus completes the kitchen. The second drawer will house our clothes/gearOPEN.jpg
    OPEN TOP VIEW.jpg

Sorry for the novel. Curious to hear people's thoughts!

That is pretty nice! I hope it actually comes together. I was going to ask if you had researched the cost of those drawer slides, but I see that you have. Those things cost so much lol
