I don't know shit about roof racks. I just picked up a LEER 100XR and they wanted over $400 for the Thule roof rack system. Seemed like a ripoff and I was already dropping $2k for the topper so I didn't pull the trigger on the rack. Topper guy said they could always install it down the road if I changed my mind...

I'm just looking for the rails and 2 cross bars so I can carry my wife's paddleboard on top of the car. Don't need anything to sturdy. I'll be carrying at most a couple paddleboards, or a canoe, or an extension ladder. Maybe down the road I'd get the ski racks and maybe carry 3-4 people's skis/snowboards.

Any suggestions for a solid, but well-priced system to accomplish what I need to?

I would of had them install the tracks...then they are the ones drilling holes in your new topper. And it will be warrantied if it leaks or causes other issues.
I think I paid 150 for them to be added to my order. Then you can put thule/yakima/etc racks on them.

I have a kit on my old Wrangler hard top sitting on my side yard. Its the round Yakima tubes very similar to this

    https://www.rackattack.com/base-roo...ch+-+Yakima+products+between+$110-$450+-+ROAS

If youlive in Southern California and you want to come and get them, throw me a hundred bucks, you can have the whole kit. You will have to drill the holes in your truck cap but with the silicone, I never got a leak.
