rumble grumbles

My 07 TRD Sport with 80k miles has developed what I am calling the rumble grumbles. I first noticed this low pitched rumbling (vibration?) when the transmission shifts into overdrive at 40-45 mph and disappears as speed is increased. Since I first noticed this noise I have found that it also rumbles in all gears as the transmission upshifts under lite acceleration. It's like almost like the engine is lugging.

I don't know if I am describing this symptom properly and I am clueless. I'm certain this has to have come up before. Can someone point me to a discussion to help me understand this and repair it?

Auto trans? How many miles?

If you have not serviced the trans or at least checked fluid level I would start there. I had a similar situation in what I would describe as a stumble or shudder in between gear ps when accelerating. Full flush cured it and it hasn't come back. Flushed at 120k and I'm at 150k

excorcist. It is an automatic with 80k miles. Now that I know what the problem is I can fix it.

gearcruncher. Lots of great info. I'll be doing a ratiotek kit along with a flush as soon as I get off the 7/12's my employer is requiring.
