I would say that sounds like a 110% healthy supercharger to me. There will always be some rattling, and the fact that you can only really hear it from directly over the back of the housing is perfectly normal. The videos I've seen of bad ones, you can hear that same rattle but 100X louder and from standing 5 feet back from the motor.

Yeah man, for what its worth that is exactly what mine sounded like since day one. I also had the URD 7th injector kit. It was truly a must have.
Now difference being mine was for the 3.4L engine, but I always kept the oil changed every 30K, new belts as needed, never had an issue! recently upgraded to a 2013 Taco 4.0, Im on the hunt again for the SC.
In regards to having to use premium, I suppose you dont have to, but........... you are putting yourself at a large risk for predetonation (knocking). Its best to run higher octane/colder plugs because of the increased combustion chamber pressure with the forced induction vs naturally aspirated.

If you are going to supercharge you should definitely never run anything less than 91, very dangerous to suggest otherwise.

I know you probably felt the same, I just would hate for some to read that and think they will be ok with 87 or 89, the tunes for the superchargers are designed for 91 and hitting boost with anything less would make the motor very unhappy.

Mine has done that since day one. Hard to tell how loud it is in the video but I’d say it’s in the normal range. Mine only does it at idle.

Hey thanks all for having a listen, and easing my brain. Its good to hear that rattle noise is normal. Ill probably still open the housing this summer and regrease the bearings in the back. But at least I can now start worrying about other noises :)
