I've just had Google phones the past two times and they use Type C to Type C for their wall chargers.

Here's mine in my Tacoma .

And my wife's in her 4runner. Had to drill the old screw out on hers and tap new threads. What a pain in the ass (on her 4runner).

Awesome. It’s cool to see this mod in other vehicles as well.

After I did mine, my wife asked when I was going to install one in her car. Started researching and found out it was the same process and she had a similar spot.

Just wish it was as easy as my truck .

Similar experience here, she didn’t want it in her 4Runner but she did want one on the passenger side of the Tacoma for her to use on trips. I also have the pedestal mounted iPad that she takes over while on interstates to fiddle around on.

Same here. As soon as I put one on my side, she asked where the one for her side was. Of course, it was next on the to-do list! ;)

They are convenient though. On our last trip west, both phones were mounted, and an iPad was mounted in the middle. And charge cords were everywhere!!!!

I'm looking into a mod to add a Qi charger to the x-grip.

Nice! Unfortunately my Pixel XL isn't wireless charging compatible. I thought about hiding a wireless one before i realized that.

If you run the cable to the A Pillar out of the way there is a good chance you are going to need a longer cable anyhow. I have had good luck with Amazon Basic cables. And have a number of devices with both C and A so stick with A and use these C 3.1 male to micro USB female adapters. Once you run the cables under the dash and up the A pillar your kind of stuck with what ever male connector your using. The adapters work with standard Type A ports but of course best with rapid charge type A USB ports on the other end.

Because I have WO heated seats wanted to keep a 12V port open and the unit I bought is no longer listed at Amazon. But it looks identical to this one. I mounted it under the dash up next to the console.

For the Rapid charge ports where I use the type C adapters I used this 2 port one and they are connected to my phone and tablet. It is the one plugged in to the bottom right 12V outlet.

The A Pillar Ram mount I use when running the dog and it holds the Garmin Alpha GPS for the dogs E-collar.

But can also connect any other electronic device I want that fits in the RAM mount with either A or C type USB connectors. Just a thought if you might have another device you would also want to use too that isn't a type C.

I finished the mount yesterday. Still investigating Qi charging options. (hard to take a pic of the phone when it's your only camera) I did have to use an m6-55mm bolt. 20180307_175925.jpg

Might create a clearance issue with the mount you choose and the steering wheel.
