We got the queen size bed and small dinette instead. It's only the two of us and the dog and is plenty big enough.

We decided on the Coachmen Freedon Express 192FBS. Wanted the couch and full walk around queen bed. It also has large tanks with enclosed heated underbelly. Drawback for some would be its not OR capable. It also weighs in at almost 4000# dry so some might not like towing it with the Tacoma. The Winnie Micro Minnie 1706 was also on the list but found an excellent deal on this 2018 FE trade-in so we couldn't pass it up.

Dry weight is around 3200lbs. Loaded is around 3500lbs. I dont carry water so that saves alot of weight.

It will tow just fine but you will have to get into highter RPM to maintain speed up steep grades. I've just towed alot with a cummins so this was a different feel. Once youve towed with a diesel everything else is crap IMO.

My tacoma has no issues towing my camper at all. You know its there but I can go through the Pocono mountains with never slowing down. We are taking to the Smoky Mountains next summer. I dont foresee any issues towing it through them.

IMG_0043.jpg IMG_0042.jpg This gives me the same length as an R-Pod but it is 7 1/2 feet wide. It is 3400 dry so I figure we will be at or just under 2 tons. Sleeps 3 but when the slide is out there is room for 2 more. Love the Anderson WDH

I think you're better off with that than an RPod. Those Rpods have such a long rear overhang. I bought a RPod 178 Hood River edition (factory lift, 16" wheels) and the rear stabilizer jacks still hit my steep driveway backing it in. I knew that wasn't going to work offroad, donated it to souldog.org

Forum: I didn't understand the need for a smaller 20' trailer to fit in the shorter spaces.
This opens up more good campsites, I get it.
There is only the wife and I and we are not big people.
We are looking for max comfort for two retirees. lol

I can see the need for a queen bed, stand up shower, kitchen and dinette.
How much weight does a slide out add?
When did elect trailer brakes start getting used?

I see a lot of trailers under tarps covered in dust.
There must be a bargain that does not require complete refurbishing?
Any suggestions, this groups sounds knowledgeable! lol

    Sorry for a hi-jack.

I've been trailer shopping for a while now and settled (I think) on a Rockwood Mini-Lite 2109S, as equipped it ways 4250lbs dry. I've got an appointment with them tomorrow. This wasn't my first choice: Forest River is making a model called No Boundaries. NB19.5 is 22'8" and weighs in at 3144. It has way more room than any other trailer I found in it's class and comes lifted with a/t tires. It has really poor storage and the finish isn't as nice as the R-Pods. Wife agreed to let me buy a Henry mare's leg if I let her get the bigger trailer. Win/win cuz I don't mind the trailer at all.

    Cheers

Notice the TN plate... where did you end up buying?

My wife and I have always been primitive campers. Hammocks and such off fire roads in National Forests and whatnot. And then we decided to have a baby... so hammocks are out (for awhile) but we need something functional, lightweight, easy to tow that won't break the bank.

We've looked at pop-ups which will generally give you a bit more sleeping space but we really don't want the hassle of setup/attaching canvas, etc., when we pull into camp late on a Friday night or in rain/storms.

Looked at R-pods b/c they look functional, aerodynamic, and you can generally find a used one relatively inexpensively but then getting a comfy spot for our daughter to grow into that isn't on a collage of seat cushions could be a pain.

I like the look of your's and many others on here. We'd prefer to stay in the 10k range used but I get LOST searching CL and FB - damn manufacturers change model numbers so often it's not easy to find something you like then search back years....

My camper is an Evergreen I-GO 189 FBS. We bought it from Gerton Auto sales in Indiana. He has a lot of smaller campers which a Tacoma will pull easily. Evergreen went out of business so we were able to get it for a good price.

We just bought an A frame hard sided pop up. Forrest River Flagstaff T12RBSSE it’s the “Sports Enthusiast” or “Off Road Model” It’s great. My wife or I can set it up in a minute flat. It’s low profile and weighs in at only 2604 dry. Outside shower and a portable potty but no stairs and a nice dinette. We have made some mods and continue to do small things to make it work better for us but out the door, brand new for less than 14 K seemed really fair. I’ll try to post some pics tomorrow.

Have you found a camper you like yet? Riley's RV in Mayfield Ky. has a 2015 Fun Finder which is similar to mine. 16 foot box with duals.
