    It's DLX son!
That's so slick! I didn't even know such a thing existed. For large quantities of parts the time savings, and repeat-ability is going to be huge.

Is welding the frames together going to be the slowest/longest step now? Or will it be tent sewing?

Think you forgot sketch. I roughed the numbers a bit:
    90" platform length
94" Max interior height (at peak)
24" be rail to top of sleeping platform mattress (pivot point)
20" bed rail to bed height (I called it bed depth)
50" of removable opening (Base model)
56" of removable opening (XL model)

Really ugly without my CAD machine....but here you go. PS - I'm running on little sleep if I fudged the #s :fingerscrossed:

Actually thinking about it, I bet the hinge is actually above the mattress, first drawings are likely more accurate... I'll delete prior post

Not to mention that it is a ton of standing space in there.

This style window might be a suitable option for the sides. It doesn't look like too much intrudes beyond the side panels to interfere with the framing.

Iggy's looks good - I really like how it extends further over the cab of the truck. I've been watching their thread as well. I like some of their ideas a lot.

That being said, I'm glad I'm 100% paid up for a GFC.

Yes, but, we haven't yet seen a short bed version of the GFC.

I think we've only seen the 6' bed version of the GFC so far. The 5' version should hang over the cab more than the prototype.

Guys - I didn't catch the short bed vs long bed bit. Good point.

I like the idea of making the overhang a bit longer. I realize that there would be an engineering trade off to cantilever that much off the base. But, you would have more 'stand up space' in the bed when it's popped.

Also, the opening windows are nice. I've said before - I need to keep my dog back there and I like having cross ventilation. But, GFC is working on being able to 'crack' the side panels open.

Otherwise from the photos - I like what GFC is doing. Look at the difference in hinges!!! I don't want to bash the other product - It looks great.

I liked the way GFC was keeping everyone updated and answered every question with well thought out answers. So, I put my $$ where my mouth was. And, after seeing photos of both products - I'm pretty confident I made the right decision.

For me, the pros I see on the Iggy camper are as follows:
    - sitting closer to the roof & shorter height of the component that sits above the roof; this will allow for more flexibility in terms of parking in home or underground garages - a pretty big deal IMO
    - more overhang over the cab roof allows for entry in/out of the bed without disturbing said bed; this is a pretty big deal as it allows for leaving comfortable, home-style (sheets and comforter) bedding and never having to move it; this also makes it easier for air to travel between the lower and upper parts of the canopy, which will come into play when heating the camper in cold weather

These are pretty big pluses for me, but not for everyone. GFC has plenty of things that I see as being superior to the Iggy camper (at least in the current state, with little to no real details available about Iggy camper).

At the end of the day, I pulled my deposit on the GFC a few weeks ago, and ordered an AluCab canopy. I'll be sleeping under the canopy, on a custom platform for the short term, and once both of these campers have been in the wild for a year or two, I'll revisit the idea with a (hopefully) better understanding of each option's pros and cons, as well as my own needs/wants.

It would be nice to know....

I really don't understand why they've refused to answer questions or provide detail about their product. Potentially turning away prospective customers. Meanwhile, the guys at GFC are in here, answering every question, working with us, and listening to feedback. Happy to support a company that cares about their customers and seems to actually know how to run a business.

Just a small point, but with the GFC being 90in long, I don't think that most folks will have a problem getting out of the top without disturbing anyone else that is sleeping up there. Depending on how tall folks are, that might allow you to leave out one of the aft pads?

My wife is 5' tall so I'm hoping to be able to leave the back panel on her side out to make it easy. We'll see how that works once I get mine.

I can't speak to the rest but I bet it will be more accessible having usable windoors on the V1...
They haven't officially announced it yet, just teased a website. They aren't event taking money.
