    They did in my case...

    Rates did not go up and deductible was waived...

    I got off really lucky! My truck was driveable and I drove it for about two months after the accident while I was waiting for the insurance to come through...

    This happened in October 2015...

    2010 RC 5-lug with like 53K on the clock at the time, in near-MINT condition; Almost $3,000 in damage because elderly alcoholic got behind the wheel instead of calling a taxi!

    So someone is DUI, hits an innocent person, has no insurance?

    They should go directly to jail, do not pass go...period!

    Unless someone has a high income or some serious assets, it's a waste of time. Considering they couldn't afford or are not smart enough to carry insurance it's unlikely the judgment would award enough to make a civil suit worthwhile.

    EDIT: It looks like I was the asshole who repeated everyone else because I didn't read through the thread. I shall retreat to my hole now.
