    For reals. Didn’t even realize I was amongst a garage build, was just trying to set myself up. Realized right when I was getting into demo.. taking steps backwards to go forward.

    @TNT4X4

    This arrived today. This job is officially done. Thanks again Matt for the AA SYE suggestion. It all went well & the XJ is back in action.

    It went well. The only part I struggled with were the snap rings. I have a whole set of pliers, but they all have the point on the end. I need to find a pair with flat ends I guess.

    I drove the XJ to work today. I’ll check it for leaks when I get home.

    Ehh I think its pretty easy to go overboard with spare parts. The stuff i carry is more to get me home if I break, rather then to keep me wheeling all weekend. The more weight in spare shit you carry around the more likely you are to break cause of all the extra weight. I think tools to try and fix stuff or remove broken parts are most important, also carry a couple common nuts and bolts. You can do a lot with duct tape and big zip ties so i have that, seals and gaskets are light so I pack some of that stuff too. I usually carry one u-joint and one drive flange. Rarely ever carry any real spare parts, maybe a birfield if I'm gonna be wheeling longer then a weekend. You can drive surprisingly far on a busted diff, never saw the need to even consider carrying one of those around but, to each their own. I have driven 6 hours home from gore mountain VA with 3 teeth missing of my rear ring gear. It was loud and slow but i don't think it was any worse then trying to change a complete diff in a parking lot.

    Everyone here already has a spare diff. They often forget its mounted right between the front tires under the engine
