Sure however more expensive. I like doing small projects for fun. Was easy and sure homelink would have been great really it that expensive. maybe one day I’ll add it but for me this was a great and fun little project. :) No complaints.

As for others questions on switches and where to buy just return to the first page all the info is there :)

Yea. That’s where I got it. The installation isn’t as hard as it reads. It took me about 20 minutes tops?

I had a Dremel and the epoxy needed already to cut and reapply the pieces.
The instructions on what you need to do are on this site. Shapeway has the links to it, just make sure you’re already signed in on a tab before clicking the links.

Kudos to the OP for a cheap alternative to a Homelink mirror!!

I love small projects like this and would totally do it except I have to move every few years due to work.

BTW - I love all the different switches that people have been posting in this thread. lol

I'd have to buy a new remote each time I move to replace the one I tear open! Although....I wonder if there is a universal remote grage door opener device. hmmm I've never thought to look for something like that!

You could also get a takeoff homelink module from eBay and wire it this way.

I would have spent the money for a Homelink mirror but I park my truck in my driveway because it doesn’t fit in the garage. I didn’t want someone to break into my truck and also have access to the garage. I opt to wire a momentary SPST push switch to the garage remote push button as the OP did, I also wired in a 12v to 3v voltage converter to replace the button battery and wired it to an ignition source so the remote only works when the ignition is in the accessory or on position. I also hid the button so it’s not visible from outside the truck. My wife’s NX has the homelink and is perfect for her vehicle because it’s always in the garage when at home.

    Kirbstomp1287,
I just want on EBay and searched for a home link mirror for a 2016 tacoma, there are quit a few listed from $115.00 up to $200.00, the only thing you have to make sure of is that your Tacoma has an auto dim mirror in it already. Once you get it, it's a plug and play. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for these step by step instructions, I was able to install the switch on my own and it turned out great. The switch works like a charm and integrated with my Tacoma perfectly. I was able to get it to work with my light switch in the color blue. Thanks again!
