How is the camping out on Gold Crown? I'm thinking of possibly going this Thursday for a night. Id like to camp out by some big rocks.

If you're looking for the large boulders that are normally associated with the national park, you wont really find any out gold crown. It's wide open with hills that are covered in small black-ish rocks. Still beautiful and secluded. But no big gorgeous boulders

Possible, he would have to travel pretty deep west to find the sandstone boulders though

Look up Indian cove campground. Not sure if it's a pay site. But it's outside the park so probably less people and has boulders

I’ve camped there before. It’s nice. Usually full since you can reserve in advance.

I only ask that everyone pack out what you bring in and please pic up trash if you happen to see some. This is a really cool area and more and more people are finding out about it and trashing it. Might see some Big Horn sheep if you're lucky

^ Watch for nails as well. Lots of pallets have been burned out there (not by us) and we've raked up HUNDREDS of nails.

Hey folks, any chance for me getting the coordinates of Chilitown?
I would love to camp near the boulders next spring during my trip but I really want to avoid the overcrowded campsites.

And by they way, is it confirmed that the Annual Pass price won't increase for 2018?

    Cheers, Neil

What's a good trail for a quick overnight backpacking trip in Joshua tree? I was looking at maybe just doing Boy Scout trail hiking about 2 miles in on Friday night.

Thought for JOTR all permits are self issue at the trail head.
