The term "wedge camper" came up in another thread as a way to describe some of the production units being released for use in truck beds, that utilize a wedge shaped pop-up tent, with access through the bed. I've also included a few other options in production that utilize some type of transforming shelter that rides on (or in) the bed.

@DoorDing thank you for creating this thread.

We planned on creating the Vagabond Outdoors thread upon official launch. Some may perceive us as “late to the party”, which is understandable. But over the past year, we’ve been present on trips, at TW meets, mod days, and everywhere in between with our V1 campers. We’re stoked to be part of the community and have met lifelong friends over the many years we’ve been active on TW.

We’ll approach the questions in a positive way, as we always have. It’s not contrived- it’s in our nature.
So we’re going to push up the date and start the thread in the next few days. Please give us a minute- we just went public 28 hours ago. :)

In the meantime, we’ll be happy to answer broader questions here, and save the details for our thread.

In deep contemplation about this decision earlier today...

Just wanted to wish you well and good luck. It’s awesome to see all the new products being spawned from the continuing surge in a vehicle based exploration. I really wish i had thought up some of this stuff (Freaking Skottle!!!!!) 15 years ago.

Anyway I’m sure there is more than enough room for all the players coming in right now. I can’t wait to see some specs so we can all compare. Competition is of course, good for us consumers.

No solar on there that I’ve seen but a wedge style RTT is a very good place for one. I’d imagine I’d be simple to point it opened into the sun (south facing) run the cables down to a controller and to second house battery.

No- they're completely different. One is a camper, the other is a tent

There's no such thing as being late to the party! I hope it all goes stellar for you and the other small manufactures.

No offense, but shouldn’t this (and in fact the original GFC thread) really be over in Tacoma Garage/Tonneau Covers Caps and Shells?

Possibly. This started as a concept for the 3rd Gens, so it was probably a good forum to start with?

Sub'd lots of cool new camping setups this summer. I should start thinking about BAMF camping accessories you guys can add to your new setups.

So the cab-over has shortened about 6" or so compared to the V1, it looks like?
I assume that means the sleeping platform extends further back into the bed now?

It is 5” shorter. The roof is made from a single sheet of aluminum and reinforced from the ceiling side.

Although the 6’ - 8” long sleeping platform does extend further back, there is 30” of standing room at the rear when deployed. When the sleeping platform extension is retracted, you can stand up at the cab wall/ front of the bed.

It also makes getting out of bed easy and allows for a place to hang out when someone else goes to bed earlier. This is important because we don’t sleep with our heads in the wedge. Tried it a few times. Felt like my noggin was in a nutcracker... it’s definitely possible in our campers though.

Can you confirm my math? If the sleeping platform extension (I assume 30" long) is stowed away and we're able to stand anywhere in the truck bed, is the sleeping platform that's just over the cab 50"? Just trying to see if that overhang bed area is a place someone could hang out in if the sleeping platform extension was stowed away
