Yeah, I considered one of those and looked at various options, but decided this would be fine. Once the framed pegboards go on, the cord will be secured to the front of one, and the strip itself will be screwed on near the bottom of the pegboard, effectively giving the same result, just in a more compact form.

I was about to point out the same thing, date is in the Serial Number April '95

    Peerless

Prior to 1984 there was not a date code included as part of the serial number. Starting in 1984, there was a four digit date code following the serial number that was month and year. Example – JO-12345-1084, this unit was built in October of 1984. Starting in the year 2000, same idea only it was a six digit date code following the serial number that is year and month. Example – 1234567-200105, this would have been build in May of 2001. Anything without the addition to the serial number would have been made before 1984 and would require contact with the factory.

How do you like those high deep cabinets? Pain to get stuff in and out of them?

They were here already. Yes and no. You just have to put stuff up there you don't use often. The biggest pain is that they only accept objects of certain dimensions, and that you can end up with dead spots inside them where nothing else will fit. There's one whole section I might pull out so I can put in deep open shelving for large totes of camping gear, like sleeping bags, backpacks, camp chairs, etc.

0312181309.jpg Not a major project today but put in a new front door. The old one was leaking and didnt close right and the glass was almost to the single door knob. Now we have a dead bolt and a knob, and a 12"x 20" window but its not easy to get close to the dead bolt and knob. also put in 3in wood screws all hinges and door latch/deadbolt strikers. They can still get in but its going to be a little tougher;) updated with pic ;)

Can be done if you find a place that has small batch ovens to do it in. Facilities with regular roller line furnaces probably won't do any smaller than 4 inches for door lites and such.
    What's the application?

Finally replaced my garage hot water hydronic heater. Went with a simple plugin inline type thermostat. Works great. Still need to reroute the power cord along the wall. This size unit didn't have the holes to mount/hang via threaded pipe (instructions said plumbing pipes were all that was needed). I installed some brackets and threaded rod to hang the unit on the 2x6 I mounted to the ceiling.

Those cleats on the wall supported the shelf that the old heater sat on. I was going to remove them. but I think I'll keep them as they'll make good nailers for cord holders. Still need to touch up the paint in that area and behind the heater.

storage is a issue here. The kids shit just doesn't stop piling up. I've been wanting to do this for years and finally did it, took about 3 weeks in my spare time.

    Supports all around
    Then went at it
    Then added the ladder
Total cost was under $500 and that's with the ladder($180) and I had to buy a new drill ($100) cause the old one died a few hrs into the job. Totally pumped on lots of extra storage:thumbsup:

I'd be cautious with this. Adding a lot of extra framing can make your trusses not act like trusses anymore. Pieces of a truss aren't intended to bend. You might unintentionally turn a truss chord into a 2x4 joist with a really long span.

That being said, I absolutely having a bunch of stuff on my garage trusses.

I hear ya. I got at least 10 opinions on how to reinforce the structure, due to the way it was designed everyone had a different idea to do it but really all the same idea. I didn't bend anything, just built onto existing. I'm no professional framer but know one and the consensus is this should work just fine. I used to have 5 old solid closet doors and other heavy ass wood holding spare 5gallon paint buckets extra 16x16 tiles etc. more weight than I have now. I took all that down and it is way more solid than before. The stuff stored up there now is holiday shit, camping gear, beach stuff etc. over all weight is not that much, and I only weigh 170 so I feel very safe walking up there:thumbsup:

I like that these ones have an internal lithium ion battery you just plug in at night instead of AA batteries

That was my biggest hesitation in buying them. Surprisingly it took about 9 months for the batteries to die. I only use them 1-2 hours a week for snowblowing, lawn mowing, and some occasional chainsaw work

nice! would definitely consider these in the future, especially for yard work. no justification for them right now on my postage stamp sized yard
