Pretty much what I got except for the spring mount. I take my mount on and off if there is low roofs. On the trail the antennae flexes. Also I didn’t check but make sure your antennae is adjustable with a screw and not cutting it.

Yes it is the screw tip one, no cutting.

I do not want a 4' antenna, but I want the best reception possible. I figured a 3' with a spring is what would get me the height I am after.

When I was doing my research for my cb setup I found alot of people complaining that the firestick would break because of its weight. Some people even had issues with a spring. I looked at quick connect connectors but they don't seem to hold the best. All it takes is one time failure and say goodbye to your antenna. Get marine rated cable, makes a difference. Better shielding and better connectors. I have a swr meter you can use to set up the antenna if you want. I used it once and it's just sat in the garage ever since. MPD Digital RG8x-W-PL259 cable seems to be the best. You can also get connectors with a removable outer thread so it makes it easier to run the cable. Pl259 connectors are fucking large.

I was hoping the 3' one would not have the issues with weight.

Yea I was going to look at cable once I figure out the 1st mounting location. The removable outer thread is for sure what I want to run it easier.

From what I read it's the RG8x rating that's important. When I switched mine out to the better one I got rid of alot of interference. Where are you planning on placing? I believe it's best on an area where the antenna has direct "view" front and back (roof would be best but really impractical) if your thinking at the end of the bed I can make you a bracket.

That's the problem, I duno yet.

For my tent, it can not be a sticking out of the bed anywhere, as my tent drapes over the entire outside of the bed. I was getting that mount to hopefully put it on the hood line. I might be able to use the CBI ditch brackets I am buying from Eugene but that will not be until later on in the summer. I want it working, not 'maybe working :cookiemonster:. I can always move it around later on.

I'd recommand a very flexy antenna, firestick are good but very bulky... and not that much flexy. Perfect for DD and forestry roads, but when on a tight trail I am always wondering if i'll break it lol I have a spring but still... it bounces a lot lol

Look into Wilson dude. They are the main competitors of firestik but use 3/8 mount instead so you won't be limited to over priced firestik shit. Ive been happy with mine. Can't remember if it's 4' or 3' though but it's been good so far.

Same, i have a cheap uniden for $50 on Amazon. 18ft regualar coax and a cheap $20 antenna snd have never had an issue, good for about 2km before I couldn’t hear them, not amazing but works good enough on the trail.

If the firestick breaks ill get a cheaper one to replace it, all ordered.

Now I can stop feeling like the kid sitting in the corner looking at the wall, I can be the kid screaming at everyone running around in circles.

    :ohsnap:

So I was talking to my Dad, and he informed me my truck is lacking big time in some basic factory options, as his 78 Bronco had a factory CB.

So far this is the group that we have... @NorilskSever, @Joe23 and myself have discussed the trip during a meet up and have compiled a list of things that may either be needed or things to consider. This trip isn't crazy but it is remote....remoteness can make things get hairy.

We are at the part now that we are trying to set a date. Throw out suggestions. August also came up as an option as it wouldn't be too hot.

    Introduction

The Swisha Loop is 800 kilometers route thru the south western portion of the province of Quebec. It is considered to be an intermediate type of route with a loose gravel for experienced drivers in off-road and remote driving. Ensure that your family and friends are aware of your trip.

The length of the trip will be approximately 5 days, therefore please ensure you have enough food and water for that time, plus 1 more extra day in case of any emergency. This is not a trip for a first-time drivers or campers, so we expect you to know how to pack, store and plan food rations for such trips. You will be solely responsible for your food and water.

It is mandatory to have absolute minimum vehicle requirements in order to safely participate with the group. At the beginning of our journey we will be double checking all those items in your vehicle. Ensure your vehicle is well maintained. There is always a chance of having flat tire or damaging vehicle, be prepared.

Make sure you have enough cash in case if there is no credit machine available at the gas stations or local stores. There will be 3 ZEC (Zone d'exploitation contrôlée) check points that will require each person to pay around $5-15 to proceed the route and camp, please have the cash available.

You are expected to have common sense and leave no trace after you left camping spot.

    Absolute Minimum Vehicle Requirements:

    o 32” AT Tires

o 60 liters of fuel in fuel containers

    o Basic med kit

    o Fire extinguisher

    o Shackle

o Recovery strap rated for at least 15,000 lbs.

o Front and rear tow points

    o CB Radio & GMRS/FRS radio

    o Air Compressor

o Spare tire, must be full spare with the same size/tread style

    Recommended Vehicle Requirements:

    o 33” AT/MT tires

o 80 liters of fuel in fuel containers

    o Steel sliders

o Aluminum or steel skid plates

o Winch and knowledge how to use it

    o Shovel

    o Traction boards

    o Tire repair kit

    Cooking & Food:
Each time we stop overnight to camp, we will be setting up designated location for cooking away from the camp. It is essential not to cook near your sleeping area or trucks. Also, ensure your food is well sealed and does not produce any smell that will attract wild animals to a campsite.

Ensure you have at least 20L of drinkable water and enough dry food. If you plan on brining meat or any heat sensitive food, ensure your cooler can hold cold temperatures for the time being. Best would be to have 2 coolers, one for food another for all your drinks. There could be a ban on having open fire, so think about all possible situations that can happened during camping.

    Camping Gear:

Each person should bring whatever works best for them while being outdoors, it is up to you, there could be chances of a wet ground or un-even surfaces, be ready for that if you plan on setting up the tent.

Bring warm clothes, bug sprays and other things that you should already know to take. Weather can be unpredicted, so be ready.

Details of the actual trip will be given to those that are going via PM. Any questions, please ask @NorilskSever @Joe23 or myself.

Given you and Eugene got to hear some of my delightful experiences from Skye with my ibs I'll just say it to remind people.

Bring plenty of toilet paper and wet wipes.
Also a good idea to have any sort of diarrhea meds. Never know what could happen and shitting your brains out is not fun.
Also consider one of those portable toilet type things whether it's a composting toilet or bucket and bags .I haven't looked it up yet but some areas you're not supposed to dig a hole and bury your turd.

Water purification is a good idea for back up. I've done it before and have the stuff so I'll probably be relying on this more than what I carry

Yea we just started to finalize our list, and the toilet via a bucket with bag's is I believe the route we will be taking.

I can not like your post, ibs is not a likeable thing.
