What is crappy range for you? Cbs I have used can get me 3 to 6 miles of reception and transmission on a forestry road. Have handheld radios (seems to be like murs) and brought them with me hunting, and had reception issues due to the hill that was seperating me and my partner. Just to say that radios are aint no magic, it needs fine tuning and a proper environment to use it at its maximum capabilities.

I’ve used a few cbs and none of them have reached further than 1/2 mile, and that’s on a wide open freeway. That was with properly tuned radios with a low SWR

That would turn me away from CB as well... Seems something is not quite kosher with your set up... or they just didn't want to talk to you... :notsure: happens to me all the time

This is kind of typical. To get more reach out of them they need to be peak and tuned then the antenna needs to be mounted in the perfect spot and then an SWR meter put on an checked. It's a process to get a CB working well. Decent for riding in a convoy but not that good unless you put some time and effort into them.

Is a well known fact that high clearance rear bumpers will render a CB useless. I will take yours off your hands and then you can talk from state to state.

No thanks needed, just doing my part to keep you safe on the trails.

Trust me, you don’t want my current CB. Something in there is busted causing “robot randy”. It’s a fun game where I randomly sound like a fax machine when trying to transmit. No rhyme or reason whatsoever.

If there are divits on the firewall where the clutch master cycl would go and you can source a parts truck it would be pretty easy. Other wise you could have a steel braided line going from the master to the slave cycl. I swapped a bunch of 240s but never a tacoma. If you can get a hold of manual pedals then that would be good otherwise you can just cut off part of the brake pedal that interferes with the clutch. The biggest hurdle may be the ECU and hooking up the spedo sensor and such that is where I would concentrate my efforts.

Not wanting the CB, its the bumper that makes it not work. I am taking the bumper for you

So then what you're saying is that you need a new CB and your issues should be no more :anonymous:

I’m gonna slap you Steve. Even with a functioning cb I’ve never had good range or clarity.
