    Hey there everyone-

Thanks for reading this! My name is Chris. Live in the Indianapolis area. Can't wait to be a Taco owner!

I've been lusting over Tacomas ever since I had to get rid of my '03 4Runner. Now that I'm in the place to get my first pickup, I want to do it right. After some searching, I can't find anything like a "buyer's guide" for 2nd gen Tacos. Is there not one, or do my TW search skills stink? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks and I hope to spend a lot of time here!

    Chris

Yeah, I'm originally from Wisconsin so every vehicle I buy gets the thorough frame check. I'd like to get a truck from AZ where my parents spend their winters, but they're so darn pricey. Thanks for the help!

Welcome to TW! Check for that frame rust and have a trusted mechanic give it a look.

Hey Chris. I'm in Muncie. Have you considered a new 3rd gen? (after all, they do look better :D)

Not sure what your budget is, but you could always look at an sr5 to keep cost down. Hell , most of us end up switching out the stuff we don't want or like anyway. Most 2gens without frame rot is going to be probably lower mileage/high cost. Might not be much more to go new, especially with lower interest rates for new vehicle loans.

Anyway, welcome aboard, and yes you will spend a lot of time here. It's kind of like going to a zoo. Lot's of monkeys flinging poo.:boink:

I picked up a 2015 XSP-X in NC with under 36 rounds for just under 27k. I used car gurus and other sites, but ended up finding mine at a local Chevy dealer. Seemed like they wanted to move it quickly.

I love my Tacoma. Grabbing some FJ steelies tomorrow on a Craigslist find. Hope you’re ready for that part of the ownership....mods....especially if you frequent this place...lol!

Take care and protect your wallet!
