^It depends on the condition of the steel to begin with. The heat treat and temper process for spring steel is very carefully controlled to make sure the material retains toughness in addition to the high tensile strength. The cooling after welding is effectively uncontrolled, so it may leave the material brittle, etc.

I've been at work all day. If it was indeed my truck you saw near St Clair & Midland around noon... I'll be giving Lojack a call.

it was grey like yours and had front barwork like yours.

Just caught my eye seeing the bar work and though maybe it was you because I know you live in the Scarborough area as well.

I had the same thought. The entire bar is designed to provide precise tensnion as it is, by cutting it, I would assume you change that somewwhat. I think there will be a change to it's performance, as to how much is the question.

Yeah that’s one of the nicer looking ones, too bad that’s the only (good looking) roof rack for these trucks and starts around 1500us, up even more if you add the rigid amd kc lights on.

I think it even has 35s.

You just wait till you see mine, it’s coming along slowly.

Edit, added a photo, i cut my finger good at work this week and the stitches don’t like moving

Anywho, was hoping to finish skid plates etc but maybe next weekend so i threw the bed rack on and took it for a test drive and see how it was. Only thing i need to fix, i made the holes 3/8 to attach to the bed itself and the bolts are 3/8 so it was a pain to align it, going to make them 1/2” for easier install

Not bad. Lots of hunting and fishing stuff. They had the tents that go on the trucks there too. Pretty cool but I would spend the 3 grand on the one they had. But it's worth the look

@NorilskSever @bfeth you are both locked in for a bed mat. I think ima gonna grab an extra one cuz...it won't fit in my 5ft bed and I already have one but it will work real nice in front of my workbench in my garage.

Went there today too. Was there just after 10 and it was already busy as f**k so bring your patience with you.

I did stop by the RTT display. Nice but not $3400+tax nice. I think that’s what the guy quoted me. It was the one that is sitting on top of the black Tacoma.

If you’re planning on buying staff, you better know your prices. Some fishing stuff can be found for cheaper in the regular stores.

Looks good with a bit of paint on it :fistbump:

On a funny note, a ZR2 access cab pulled up beside me at the lights on my way back to work at lunch on friday. I rolled the window down as we were at a red at the highway waiting, he did the same. I said 'Looks like there is something wrong with your rock sliders' as he had nerf bar step things not sliders. He did not look close enough at my truck at 1st and just smart mouthed back 'Yea my truck has actual rock sliders' Then his eyes look down and gets a look at my shiz, he then frowned and rolled his window up. :cookiemonster:

You NEED one if you dont have it. Totally changes the way the bed works. I hated the bed of the truck until I got mine.

Yeah, I spoke with the guy and he told me that is the price with a battery generator included (GoalZero or something like that), they also are coming up with a hard shell version apparently for around $3500.

    Thank you sir,

Sounds about right from the forums i waste my time reading. Trades his “almost” rock sliders in for useless side steps. So many zr2s are used for 100% street use it sucks but it’s how it goes. I can’t wait to see what this thing can do with everything locked up.

There’s a reason im still very active in this group, you guys offroad and have fun. Not so much on colorado forums for Ontario area.

Ive contacted two zr2 owners in southern ontario and they had no interest in hitting the trails. Kind of disappointing but you tacoma people will have to put up with me cause it doesn’t sound like many zr2s will be hitting any trails haha
