Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a Curt 31075 front hitch for my 2017 TRD Pro and wanted to know if anyone else has done this. My concurn is how much am I going to have to modify the skid plate to get this thing to fit? The instructions say it will have to be "trimmed".

Give me a shout if you have any info.

    Thanks in advance!

The hitch is for a winch and also a rod/cooler holder for the beach.........and yes, accationally I will use it to push my boat into my extremely tight fence opening in my backyard.

I put one on my SR. I had to cut out small sections of the air dam, or just leave it off. I just followed the instructions in the box. Easy, no drill installation. I use it for a step for easier motor access and as a rescue point.IMG_0234.jpg

Check CBI Offroad and Mobtown. Both offer a high clearance front receiver / recovery hitch. However, they will be more expensive and more involved with the install.

I recently put one on an off-road model. Simple bolt on. Not sure how much farther the TRD skid goes forward compared to the stock off-road skid. I can take measurements if needed.IMAG4141.jpg

I wouldn't put a winch on that, 4 bolts isn't something I would trust to pull my truck with.

X4 on the Mobtown hidden winch mount, they are designed for winch cradles. I have a curt on my dodge ram and it deffinetly will effect ground clearance.
    Go @Mobtown Offroad @jowybyo
    Ftmfw.
The above guys can help you out^

a 1/4" grade 8 bolt has a tension failure strength of around 5k lbs. You could pick up one of these trucks with a single, 1/4" grade 8 bolt.

In shear(sideways) you get about 60% of that strength, so I would want 2.

This has 2 bolts in shear and 2 in tension at all times depending on how the load is applied. It also looks to me like the bolts are quite a bit bigger than 1/4" bolts.

I would be more concerned with the frame or hitch steel failing before the bolts failing.

I put a Mobtown hitch on my 2016 SR. It turned out great.

Does the curt really affect ground clearance that much? Was considering one as well.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Curt makes an ok hitch that good for a few things. 'Driving' small trailers into a tight space (easier than backing). Using a front mounted bike rack or some other form of carrier.

They are bad for looks, as they look like an aftermarket add on. (doh!) Only bull bars look worse.

    They reduce ground clearance.

They are only semi adequate for light recovery work. Not at all for real 'winch my truck off the cliff' stuff.

@Mobtown Offroad is the way I'd go. Especially on a 35k truck. More rugged, more obscure, no impact on ground clearance.

Not affliated, not even a user. Just like the design and final install, like the slick SR shown above by @Dsmitc90 above.

I recently switched from the Curt front hitch (had it 18 months) to the SSO Lo Pro which they modified for a receiver. Got it in last year's group buy. Net weight increase of around 40 pounds after removing all the OEM parts as well as the Curt hitch. Dropped the front end 1/2" so now looking for 700 lb springs to regain the lost height from the bumper and the full steel skids. The bumper install is well documented in other threads.

Some pics post install if you need a front hitch and like the option of a plug and play winch without packing it around town all the time.
