Just made a 800 mile round trip (400 of it in tow). Picked the trailer up in Virginia and brought it home to Pennsylvania. Towed nicely... had to drop into 4th a few times to climb but overall a good experience.

 

You're supposed to tow in 4th.....it's stated in the manual

 

What WDH are you using? Looks like you've got it set nice and level. I'm trying to decide if I need to raise my L brackets a notch.

 

I'll snap a pic and get back to you. It made the rig a pleasure to tow (also the 2800lb weight rating)

Thought I would throw my cents in, take it for what it's worth. I bought an Anderson WD hitch, its quiet and a simple set up that weighs considerably less than many others out there. I suppose they all due whats required of them, just ease and simplicity of the one I have makes it more enjoyable.

 

Thanks Rudy. I have the e2 also, but my rig doesn't seem quite a level as yours. Do you have a pic of the L bracket on the trailer frame?

Sure thing, once the first day of Spring snow storm wraps up here in Pennsylvania, I'll be happy to get some L bracket shots for you to compare. Really wish I didn't just have to type that sentence.
Rather be pulling the rig somewhere quiet, warm, and dry. Mind me asking what size wheels/tires you have on your Taco? Great look!

 

First tow of new 3,000+ lb boat on dual axle trailer with no problem at all. Saved me from having to go buy a Tundra!

 

23' Aero Cub. 3,328 lbs dry, 4,720 lbs GVWR. I went to this from a popup. I could definitely feel it was back there, but it towed just fine.

 

Very nice. We just sold our 20’ Cub. Did not have the slide but had the double axle. Pulled great, just took it easy. On the hunt for a replacement.

 

We bought it used last summer and only camped in it twice so far, but love it. As you can see in the pic, I have the extended mirrors, a WDH w/sway control (I posted links a few post back), and a brake controller.

First time towing it I was really nervous having come from a light popup. You've got it exactly right though. Just take it easy.

Did you by any chance happen to tow that boat with the stock tires? I'd be curious how you would describe the difference if any. It seems to me the stock tires are "squishy". Would it be wishful thinking to think that the K02s 10 ply were stiffer/more stable? Or maybe you didn't notice any difference?

"Squishy" is a function of pressure in tires, Sidewall strength only will help you resist punctures, but in no way is that going to add stability. Add more pressure if you're loaded up in the bed, either on the tongue or actually in the bed.

 

i'm quite amused that these Taco 4x4's have nearly the same size wheel as the 8800 lb GVWR tows 12500 lbs F250 diesel I just bought.... LT265/75R16 ... the stock wheel on my TRD OR is 265/70R16 ... on the Tacoma it looks huge, on the long bed extended cab F250 it looks small.

 

When I picked the trailer I still had my snow tires on with softer tread and less load rating but the drive was short so no real comparison to make. The truck felt pretty stable and capable hauling up some twisty and hilly highway roads.
