Does anybody have any recommendations for a brand of gear lube for running in a diff with an LSD? I know you've got to run LSD additive too. Eaton says to run a quality conventional oil, although I would prefer to use a synthetic. Local autoparts stores have Mobil 1 (syn), Valvoline (both), royal purple (syn), coastal (dino), lucas (dino), etc. I've been running AMSoil and could continue that. For a conventional, I figured valvoline 80w-90 and a tube of additive should work fine. Don't know much about lucas or coastal.

I've been running AMSoil in my engine, tranny, and open diff. Now I'm about to install an LSD and realized I haven't bought conventional oil in over 10 years.

Yeah, no go on synthetics in a LSD. I experienced all the chatter myself before I knew better. You should get something like this, its what I'm running in my truck:

thanks for the responses. Yesterday I picked up 4 quarts of valvoline 80w-90 and tube of CRC friction modifier from NAPA. I'm going to use this for the break in period.

Read good things about Shell Spirax and Rotella but I can't seem to find them locally. The only dino brands that seem to be around are Coastal, Valvoline, Castrol, and Lucas. I found Rotella on Amazon for $6 a quart. How's that CRC gear lube? I think I saw some at the Wal-Mart, so it's available here too.
