Hi all, I,m new to the truck world. Last tear I bought a 2017 Tacoma Sport with black TRD wheels. Although is my everyday car I will like to make the slightest modifications possible to make it higher or a bit bigger. Lift, tires, what is the fist step?

Toytec lift, White Knuckle sliders, RCI Armour, ECGS (Nitro Gears), Victory 4x4 Striker Front bumper, Smittybilt X20 10K winch, Dobinson snorkel, Spidertrax 1.25 spacers and 255 R80 16 BF Goodrich KM2s.
Start reading about types of lifts (spacer or full suspension). Research how big of tire you want. Research the modifications you will have to do to your truck, cab mount chop, fender trimming.
It's best and less expensive to have a good game plan before you start as to not to force you to spend a lot of money to solve problems as they happen due to not having a well thought out plan.
After researching the forum I would strongly suggest contacting manufactures and confirming what you believe will work even the best intended comments on this forum are not always accurate and the best option. Not all trucks are the same.

Good luck and have fun reading!

i threw a one inch spacer on the front and went up one tire size. to me it made a huge difference in the look of the truck. it did take my mileage from 22 mpg to about 17 mpg. i was shocked it was that much. i thought i'd lose 2 maybe 3 mpgs.

also forgot to add that i threw on wheel spacers last weekend and they too made a huge difference in the look of the truck. all in all, i think i spent about $1,000 for everything.

Lol at feeling the need to point that out. Thank you also for pointing out the same link that’s appeared 3 times in this thread. The guy talking about his truck offered OP some options, you’ve added nothing to this thread. Just like me.

This is the most sensible advice here. For 1” or less lift, the guys saying you gotta buy Kings and Deavers, and UCAs etc etc etc or you aren’t a bro are just consumerist sluts. If you want to keep your original ride quality and just want a tiny increase in height/stance, spacers are a good affordable option. Up towards 2”, for sure, start spending some money on a true lift. Just my opinion.

Going a size up on your tires might be the best first step for you. 265/70 17s will effectively give you a 1/2" of extra height, and on the TRD wheels, they will stick out a little more, making the truck look a bit bigger/taller.
