    Hi all,

I'm currently shopping for rear bumpers with tire-carrier swing-outs (I even went so far as to make a spread sheet of the options) and I'm curious about how much a high clearance bumper would really benefit me with a short bed.

If the high clearance is really going to keep me from bashing something offroad then I would definitely be willing to drop some extra cash on it, but I'm not convinced with a short bed that it is worth it, and it saves me from cutting my fender beds.

Do you guys have any opinions or experiences you can share with the high clearance bumpers?

Thanks for your help, hopefully I didn't miss a similar thread in my searches before posting.

i can tell you my first time out with my shortbed was going through a creek bed and ripped the trailer connector right out from under the bumper on my way up the other side and that was with a lift and 33s. managed to scoop up about 10 pounds of dirt too. So i got a bruteforce high clearance with a swing out and i absolutly love it. Cutting your bedsides really isnt that big of a deal. you just tape off a straight line even with the bottom of your tail light and take a cut off wheel to it and throw some por15 and some weatherstripping on the edges when youre done. looks great and keeps your ass off the ground. i say do it.
