I have a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 dual cab and have a problem with the vents in the dash. Even with the selector set to under dash the vents in the dash are still working. I have to close the louvers to stop the air flow. maybe something dropped inside the vent holding the selector open? any idea how to access the selector for these dash vents.
This may be connected but when i select recirculate air, the light on the button comes on and i works ok, then after about 5 to 10 minutes the light goes out and it turns itself off.

The outside vents are side window defrosters some air will come out of them all the time.
Not sure about the recirculate, never use it.

So the recirculate is the problem or the mode (floor, vent, defrost, floor and vent) is the problem?

Not sure I understand your question?
No matter how you set the dials air will come out of those 2 vents (the ones closest to the side windows)

Maybe i was not clear. the dash vents either side of the steering wheel that you can adjust to point at your face etc. these are flowing air all the time even when i select floor. which is pretty annoying when i have the heater on and get hot air in my face. I have to close the louvers.

I guess there are 2 problems. the dash vents that continue to flow air and the recirculation button that won't stay on more than 5 minutes regardless of mode ( floor, dash, defrost)

OK, the vent left of the steering wheel will flow always, I usually point it at the side window, the one on the right of the steering wheel should switch closed when floor is selected.

The air box is behind the glove box.

Have heard of the so called timer on that button, not sure about our trucks but maybe someone will chime in.

Wish I could be more helpfull.
