Good morning everyone. Happy Sunday. Up this morning bright and early to go to my pick up soccer game. Went to bed super late last night so really feeling it.

 

How you gonna go to bed late the night before a big game!!! I went early and I'm just going skiing today.

 

It's just a pickup game with a bunch of brazilians. It's nothing crazy, although it tends to get pretty heated sometimes.

 

I have an Ultragauge MX 1.3 in my truck that I need to take out before I get the new one.

I’ve had an ultra gauge in my truck for about 3 months now. Thought it would be more useful than it is but I also don’t tow hardly ever. I use mine for MPG mostly and miles to empty. It shows that I get about 18mpg but I don’t buy it considering I only get about 250 miles until I need to fill up again.

You can calibrate the MPG. Tell it exactly how many gallons you put in a few times and it will be dead on, or at least mine is.

 

Oh really? I’ll try that then. I didn’t know you could do that

 

Been a while since I have done it but I think it has a running total of gallons used that you can adjust. So you would reset that to 0 and keep your own total for a few tanks then adjust it to match.

It works really well. With my truck I have it geared to low for the size tire I have, so it obviously calculated my MPGs wrong. It took about 3 fills ups that I manually entered my fuel used judging by the pump. Now it’s almost always dead on.

 

Ok peeps, the deed is done. So let's start this off the proper way in chronological order.

Yesterday it all happened. Showed up at Drew's (@tacobell007) house around 10. It was a bit chilly and windy. We BSed for a bit, took the parts off the truck and opened up the boxes. We, I mean Drew, started to take the passenger front wheel off, and taking out all of the bolts. Right as we were doing that, Rebecca (@DoubleRGirl) popped in to say what's up and see what was going down, along with her BF. He's a cool guy. So while they were both there, Drew took off the other wheel and all the bolts out. Tony (@Boston10Taco) showed up a bit after that to help out. Got the needle bearing replacement done, and while that was getting finished up Rebecca and her boyfriend left. It was windy as heck and cold, and she was shivering. The front got finished up without any major issues. Just took time because of all the parts that needed to be removed. Then, onto the back, where things got interesting. Took the wheels off, cut the u-bolts, and took off what needed to be. Where shit hit the fan was trying to remove the stock leaf pack in order to install the AAL. One of the shackle bolts would not come off. Took forever to finally get it out. Adding to that, one of the leaf pack bolts stripped because I USED THE WRONG NUT to get it back together. Tony ran out to try and find a new one, at about 8pm, but no luck. Drew cut the top of the bolt off and re-threaded it and we got it to work. Finally got it all finished up at about 10:30pm.

While all of this was going on, the wife was texting asking what was going on and taking so long. She was upset because I left the house early and hadn't been with her and the kids all day, and was missing St Patrick's day dinner together. Not a happy camper. I finally left Drew's at 11pm and got home at 12:30am. She was still up doing school work, getting report cards together, etc. I came clean about what I had done, how much it cost, and explained to her why it took so long. She said she didn't want to hear about my truck anymore, and that she didn't want me to do anything else to it. Said the truck was consuming my life. I can understand that and see her point of view. I don't really want to do anything else to it besides getting the cap painted, so that should be it and I told her that. I think she's still upset. Getting a weird vibe today. Not sure if it's because of not being home all day, or because of what I did. Time will tell hopefully.

So... I want to give a huge thank you to Drew for letting me come to his house and do it, and letting me watch mostly and help here and there. I want to give an even bigger thank you to Tony for coming to help. He didn't have to since he doesn't really know me from anywhere, so I really really appreciate it. You sir are the man. I want to give you something as a thank you if it's ok with you. And thank you to Rebecca for stopping by and snapping a few pics. Feel free to post them.

I honestly didn't take any pics. Was too curious watching, trying to help, and stressing out about the consequences. I'll try and measure at some point, and take a few pics.
