I finally got it! I ordered my 2018 TRD OR DCLB in late December, and finally picked it up a couple of weeks ago. (I had to go away for work a day later for 2 weeks). Though I haven't driven it very much yet, I love everything about it so far. I "ordered" it with just the tech package, which wasn't readily available by me when I was looking to buy. Especially combined with the Quicksand color.

I sold my 2006 SR5 DCLB to a co-worker for 10,000. There was nothing wrong with it. Low miles, great condition.

I figured I would sell it while it still had value, plus I just wanted a newer truck with updated tech. My 2006 didn't even have an aux jack, let alone Bluetooth or anything more advanced than the 6 disc CD changer.

I don't do hard core off-roading. I mainly use it to drive on the beaches by me to go fishing. So far I am liking the suspension of the OR model more than the suspension on my 2006 SR5.

I already ordered an A.R.E. CX cap with windoors and some other options. I had a CX cap (minus the windoors) on my 2006, and never had an issue with it.

I kept my first Toyota (1992 4x4 pickup) for 14 years, and traded that in for the 2006. 14 years, and there was nothing wrong with that truck. I only had the X-tra cab, and outgrew it when I had kids. I had no problems with the 2006 Tacoma, and got out of it after 12 years. I hope to get just as good a lifespan out of the new one as well!

Thank you to all who posted here over the years. Your insight into my 2006 and the new 2018 has proven invaluable.

Nice! That was a generous price you offered on your old Tacoma to your coworker. I’m not sure what “low miles” is, but a truck like that around me would go for $14-16k all day long.

New truck looks nice. And that crawl control may come in handy if you ever get stuck on the beach.
