I know this has been discussed on numerous threads and I did a search but am still a bit confused as the answer is all over the place. I have a 2016 Sport Access Cab manual with no lift and factory 265/65 R17 tires and 17” alloy wheels. I’m looking to upgrade my wheels and tires to 4runner TRD Pro 17” wheels and 265/70 R17 Wrangler AT Adventure tires. The question is will this setup rub? If those tires do rub are there any all terrain tires that doesn’t rub.

The largest tire you can fit stock without rubbing is the stock tires on a 2016 3rd gen. Aka either 265/65R17 or 265/70R16

I put 265/70R 17. New wheels, I replaced the 16’s. I did rub front mud flaps a bit in hard turns. I removed the front flaps and then I only occasionally rubbed during a hard turn while entering a high entrance.

I'm not sire about the 17" rim max tire size you stated, but as for the 16" rim max tire size, the largest tire you can fit with no lift is 265/75/r16, I know because I just pout a set on my SR this week. They don't rub (unless you have front mudflaps).

If that's the case then a 265/70R17 would fit just the same as your tires

Yeah, I believe that's right. My tires are 31.7 inches diameter, and I think that's about maxed out in the front wheel well

Yah depending on wheel offset and backspace rub may or may not happen.

I went from stock positive 25mm bs to new wheel with 0 bs

I too have a 3rd gen Sport AC. I previously had 17 inch FJ rims with 265/65/17 Geolandars with 1.25 spacers and it didn't rub. I recently switched wheels for 2011 4runner wheels and 265/70/17 Wildpeaks and it does now rub on tight turns. I removed the air dam and that helped but it is rubbing slightly against the fender well liner now. It looks great, so I'll level it to stop the rub.

I've been running Nitto Terra Grappler G2 265/70R17 stock suspension then lifted no problems no rubs.
