I had the same issue and had to use the slide also but my vibe seemed to get better but is still there. Sending it in for a trans flush and gonna have them look at the carrier and ujoints.

Anyone know any dealers in socal that would do the TSB work but also install the ecgs bushing instead of the needle bearing?

Just had the TSB done of my 15. The service manager didn't want to approve it since it's "lifted" (5100s @ 1.75") but since I had all my free services done there he let it slide, according to the tech and service writer. Only have a few miles on it since I picked it up but no more vibes.
When/if the vibes come back, I will be doing the ecgs but since it was still under warranty I figured I'd let the dealer do it (upon approval). Also had them take care of the door seal TSB as well.

I've called 3 dealers in Ventura county and each one says they won't install customer supplied parts under the tsb.

Mine said the same. To clarify, they installed the revised oem needle bearing. When it goes bad I'm going to do the ecgs myself.

Does anyone have an idea what most shops are charging for the labor to do this and is there a vid or write up on how to change this needle bearing?
    Thanks!

Out of pocket from a local shop that specializes in driveshafts. Cost me $460 for new drive shaft (u bolts & carrier bearing). This is after the ECBS bushing install which cost me about $130 in parts and $350 for the install.

Anybody in here still shipping around the removal/install tool? I was able to get a hold of one last year courtesy of @Unchained 5150 but recently got a new Tacoma and need to do the swap again. PM me if you have the tool available! Thanks!

So I have had a driver side clunk the last few months and have not been able to find it. It sounded and felt like when my shock tower nuts came loose. Well, I found the cause after smelling burning gear oil on my exhaust form a 1.5 hr highway trip this past weekend. It looks/feels pretty bad. I think the bearing is toast with how much play there is in the axle. Ordered the seal, bushing and tools from ECGS. Hopefully the axle shaft is okay and there are no bearing pieces floating around in the diff.

I replaced needles with bushing, still vibrates at beginning of trips. Switching to 4x4 stops it. After 20 minutes vibration goes away. Guessing cause oil gets hot and thinner, or the shaft heats and swells and its a tighter fit.

It's a max 3 hour job. Normal shop rates are roughly $90hr. Yes $350 is high, but not unreasonable. $120 is lower non tax paying shop rate.

I've got a removal tool if anyone in the Knoxville area needs to borrow it.

It took me exactly an hour and a half. Yeah I have battery powered impacts and stuff, and had everything I needed when I started. But still. Thats a lot.

It doesn't take me long either, but a tax paying shop is going to quote their estimated price at the current labor rate.
