I can't leave anything well enough alone
Just got my set this week. The 1/2" hardware was threaded together, so no mismatched thread pitch for me.

However, maybe I'm missing something but the grease fitting doesn't seem grease-able with the shackle assembled in the hanger. Zerk doesn't align with the hole in the bottom at all. Obviously it is not on the truck yet, just playing with it on the bench... Any help / advise on this? I'm no expert, hopefully I am overlooking something. Thanks.

Got mine today too, hot damn these are beefcake. Also not sure how you are turning a profit with the amount of packing material that's in the box. :D

Looking forward to getting them installed!

You grease them before the install and at full droop for maintenance. You will most likely need a needle grease tip to grease on the truck.

    good stuff jerry

got the shackles on yesterday...much better fit than the defined shackles i had previously. these fit perfectly over my deaver bushings and nicely in the hanger. greasing for maintenance will be a little tricky. worst case, unbolt the shackle and rotate it up to grease. zerk looks to line up nicely through the hole you have at the bottom of the hanger though..

i never even thought about the hole on the bottom. It's lining up with it at ride height?

This is going to be pure trial and error isn't it? I know some springs are not all the same length wise, and no trucks are identical, so that could impact shackle angle and thus alignment of the hole. That picture is deceiving, I think. It isn't lined up that well on mine, at least with the shackle vertical, and I don't think a needle grease tip would even work on compression or droop. But again, mine aren't on so it is just speculation. I guess between getting lucky with full compression/droop and a needle gun, or a 90 degree zerk, or even taking it apart to re-tap a zerk in the right spot might be possible. Or cutting a hole in the hanger that aligns with the zerk?

Seems to me that a grease-able shackle should have had the greasing part tackled in the design? Might at least want to think about that for the next batch?

OK, so that is with a Deaver spring based on your previous post. I have Dakar springs, I think I've heard they are shorter, so possibly a more vertical shackle? Who knows until it is on I guess. Is it just the photo angle, or is the back side of the shackle very close to touching the hanger? I did notice on the bench that the shackle doesn't have very much swing to it before it binds. It would depend on the spring arch at ride height, but it appears that if the spring flattened out much more there would be contact?

I'm just hoping to make any needed modifications prior to installation, rather do it once.

consider bushing and metal deflection and axle forces too, hitting a bump in the forward direction would result in the axle trying to go backwards, held in place by the front spring bushing. If that bushing deflects, coupled with the rest of the spring, rear bushings, frame, etc flexing - the shackle could conceivably go quite a bit further backwards in normal operation...

I wonder if it will be worth while to do some pre-clearancing of the shackle or hanger to make sure it will swing farther without interference.

I'm talking about the bump stops not hitting a bump while driving.
