Has anyone successfully replaced the carpet in the truck with vinyl? I am considering replacing it to allow for easier clean up. Want to install a floor drain as well so I can easily hose out the floor when it gets dirty. (I am aware of the vulnerable electronics)

No personal experience with it, but a rhino liner type of product might be a good choice.

The problem there is that I would then have gaps between the plastic trim pieces.

My idea is to have a truck floor like we had in our HMMWVs.

It could still leak when you spray water everywhere and cause havoc with the wiring, electronics (not to mention rust) unless you take time to waterproof everything.

    I’d just get Husky mats

I looked at Husky mats. I just hate that the carpet still grabs dirt. The wife always manages to shift the mat on her side as well so the carpet gets extra filthy there.

I see. How about laying down a few layers of carpet film underneath? That would at least keep the dirt off the carpet. The only thing I don't know is if any residue would be left behind after several months/years of it being in place. I used it on a home remodel project and left it on there for 6-7 weeks. Peeled right up with no residue. But that was only for a short period of time.

There area few different clips that you can get for the right side mat. Eagle Claw, a VW clip, and another that I can't remember.

One the electrics side, there are also knee airbags and seat airbag connections to worry about. And a lot of bare metal in the interior, such as the dash frame.
