What's the with the price being so expensive over a soft topper or even a best top?

I was looking at these, but decided on a Softopper due to price and the ability to fold down easily.

nope, I do miss it but I always worried about the motor, that 3.0 was a time bomb.. I loved the seats they were like jumping into a hug with the adjustable side bolsters..
it was full +3 fiberglass fenders and bedsides and had a odd LT kit made by a now defunct company out of So cal. It was a fun and very capable truck.

Ah, the famous 3.0, still a good looking truck though.

I was really debating on the softopper as well, but I decided to keep my build true to the SR5 look. I would love to lift it instead and have some cool rims to bro-out with my dudes lol. But been there done that. And I’m gonna put my money into something more simple and practical. If I wanted a crawler, I’d just buy a crawler.

To me, it seems like the build is better and much stronger than the sod topper. Did my own research and I just love the build, the aesthetics and just the overall multifunctional ways I can use it.

I'm feeling the pain. I just finished a 6k mile camping/road trip from New Orleans to Oregon. I loved the security of the my tonneau cover. But that last third of the bed is really out of bounds for quick access. Planning another trip with my son and his friend. There's no way we're going to be able to haul all of our gear with that limited space. Was considering a roof rack but hearing they get noisy and can only hold 100lbs or so.
I like the look of the warrior bed rack. Any thoughts on one of these + a weather poof/resistant container? - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/warrior-products-2016-toyota-tacoma-racks.403949/

To me, I personally don’t like the look of those bed racks. But that’s just me, they look really sturdy and functional for anything someone wants to use it for. Roof racks with crossbars aren’t bad at all. The wind noise was never a problem for me. The wind-fairing does eliminate sound if you’d like to spend the extra money. But you’ll always get noise from ratchet straps.

I’ve had a tonneau on the ‘14, worked very well. Then a Softopper on the ‘16, that was better. I just scored a used but nice Can-Back for the new ‘18. Hopefully getting it this weekend. That looks better since I need to mount the RTT and awning.

Looks great. When are you getting the RTT? Would appreciate a walk thru/review when you're done!
