For you guys that have done this, did you have a hard time getting the kick panel by the fuse box back in place? I think mine snaps in the lower pin, but not the upper.

I also bend the plastic holding clip (not sure what is called) on the fuse cover. But since it wont fit back once I used the installation kit I'm not too worry about it. I'm just going to stoer it in the glove box.

Sweet write up OP! Thanks for the idea!

I was actually looking at this Cam as it has good reviews and both front and rear cameras. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07795Y4TC/ref=psdc_3248688011_t3_B074DQ4PJJ

I'm just wondering how I could mount the front cam using the GoPro mount. I don't have a GoPro so I'm not really sure what to look for since there are like 1000 different mounts on Amazon...

I was thinking of a simple mount that clips into the mount on the truck and has a flat side to mount 3M adhesive to it then mount the cam to that...

    EDIT:

I found this GoPro mount solution on Amazon that I think would work... Attach the two pronged quick mount to the cam then use the three prong on the trucks gopro mount...

Your write-up gave me the moto I needed to get my Rexing installed. Pretty much followed the same procedure that you did, very happy with the install. I used the Shapeways GoPro/Rexing mount.

    ETA:
I mounted it using the Shapeways GoPro/Rexing mount.
For power I used the Rexing hardware kit, clipping the HTM fuse connection and crimping it to a low pro Add A Fuse set. I pulled the overhead console out, then I removed the A pillar and kick panel. I connected the Add A Fuse into the fuse box (also using the washer fuse location), and ran the wire up along the dash panel and into the channel for the overhead wiring harness, forward of the side curtain airbags. I then fed the wire along the leading edge of the headliner, pushing it in with a small trim tool. Once I got to the mirror/center console area I spooled the extra wire, zip tied it, and fed a small length with the connector out on the passenger side, dropping down to the camera.
The rear camera line was run from the camera along the front edge of the headliner in the same way, again with the extra being spooled and zip tied behind the overhead console. I ran the wire under the overhead wiring harness and side curtain airbag so that it would tuck into the top edge of the headliner along the driver's side door, under the weather seal. I ran this over the door opening, and then tucked it under and ran it around the B pillar. The wire then ran along the top of the rear driver's side door in the same manner, going back to the trim panel at the rear of the cab. The joint for the rear camera wiring tail and extension is larger than the wire, so I had to double the wire up and run it down overlapping itself on the rear trim panel. The tail of the wire then was tucked under and around the window trip panel and then the camera was installed with the adhesive pad.

How is that camera, when I was reading through the reviews it sounded like it had some drawbacks.
Ideally I'm looking for something to record if someone messes with the truck.....and to not look like something that would entice someone to break in to grab it!

I’ve really only used it tonight driving into Dallas and back. Footage is good. I had an in-store credit at Best Buy and they had this camera. I had been researching dash cams and for the money this looked like a decent camera that had what I needed. I don’t think it has the parking activation like some others so you may need a different camera. So far I like it and I really like that it uses the GoPro mount.

It's funny because when I got my taco I never thought I'd use that gp mount but actually have used t a few times to do time-lapse driving to or from camping. Kind of cool to see the scenery change from high desert to the forest.

In this pic, did you black out some of the windshield?? .....if you did what did you use?

Nope, that's actually OEM. Haven't done anything to the windshield.

Just got dash cam for christmas. Sub for future install.

If I tap into the wiper fuse I wont be able to utilize the parking mode right since it wont have power when vehicle is off?

There is an empty spot in the cab fuse box that is battery (always on). I used this for my Viofo 129 parking mode.

The one just under AM1 correct? That's what I used for mine.

What is the power draw on these. Any concern of it killing battery?

    Yup, that's the one.

Very low draw, I've left it on all day at work with no issues. My hardwire kit came with an inline voltage limiter circuit that cuts power to the dash cam if battery voltage gets too low.

You can get kits with different battery level cut offs. The cheaper ones will go down to 11.7, some of the higher end ones have a higher cut off, around 12.2 or so I think. It just cuts off the power to the cam so you can still start your vehicle.

Use a voltmeter to see which ones have power when the ignition is off. Headlights and taillights do for sure. Don’t remember what the other options are. But you need to check which leg has power anyway so that you put the add a circuit in the right orientation. If you put it in backwards then you will bypass the fuse.
