just curious if anybody has used or knows anything about the “unique fridge freezer” that costco or aztec off grid sells. Any input is apreciated.

Plus costco warranty/returns... Stops working and I pretty much just walk in and they hand me my money back or give me a new fridge

interesting. I wouldn't hesitate purchasing that from Costco, knowing that a year later if I don't like it I can return no questions asked.

I would not get it. it runs on propane as well? how you use something that you use to HEAT something to COOL something. that's the devil's work. It's evil. Nope. no way, not me.

My camper has a three-way fridge. I believe it's called "absorption". They do use a lot of power on DC, a lot more than a compressor fridge, so that's a consideration. When running in propane, a 12V source is needed to power the controller, but they don't use very much LP at all when running.

For a truck/overlanding/camping... I'd rather have a compressor fridge. Since my camper has 2 20lb propane bottles, the 3-way fridge works great in that context.

ETA: OP's link is not a 3 way fridge. It's a compressor model. The other fridge someone linked IS a 3 way.

13A when using 12V. That'll last a whopping 10 hours on most people's battery systems, if they're lucky.

Wonder how that would work in a portable module in the back of a truck. The propane fridge my inlaw has in his cabin has a small burner that burns off the propane, boiling ammonia and water. the ammonia gas is what cools things down once it mixes with some hydrogen from the boiled water. It's a small light, just a little bigger than a pilot light, his is about 15 years old now. I just don't know how comfortable I'd be with something that is lit and and burning in my bed. I'd be fine with it once it's off the truck and in my campsite. I just wouldn't want to be on the trail jostling around something with a small burning light.

Two different models have been posted. One is a 3-way, one is a compressor type.

Yeah, you need venting for the gas, probably not a good idea for the back of a truck.

Note like I've mentioned - two different models have been linked. One is the 3-way, the other is a compressor model.

Whoops  I followed the first link and went off that, rather than view the actual product OP was talking about. I deleted my link, hopefully that helps prevent confusion.

Max draw is 2.7amps. On 12v i posted the link a couple posts below the op.
