My 08 Taco has been damaged by shoddy oil from an oil change place. What is a reliable source for a master kit to do a re-ring on the 4.0 engines?

I am curious about this "re-ring" you speak of.

Backstory: I was ALWAYS very particular about what oil I used in oil changes; Castrol has always been my brand, never let me down. 3 years ago, I took a job overseas as a contractor in the middle east. I turned my Taco over to my son; he...is not mechanically inclined. He's been taking it to aN oil change in a box place since I left....well, right before state inspection time, it popped cam and crank sensor codes. Had him take it to a shop I trust, turns out the oil the lube in a box has been using sludge up the engine so much, the chain walked on the timing gears. My guy quoted me $3700 to replace the timing set, I said no, I'll deal with it next trip home.
Elder spawn went to Toyota with Mom and bought a new car, they lowballed the truck, so it's being parked until my next run home.

Sounds like they weren't changing the oil.

Does not compute. You can buy the cheapest Wal-Mart oil and not have issues if oil is changed.

That may be what I end up doing. That or getting a salvage truck with a good engine and *$#ked body...preferably a 4x4. I'll swap out what parts are needed from mine (solid body and chassis).
