Has anyone added the glass break sensor (PT398-35160) to a 2018 with the factory alarm.

I looked at the directions and it shows that a jumper plug is needed to replace a dummy plug on the hood latch but I have a plug that goes to a cable.

Also will I need to enable the GBS with techstream if the factory alarm is already enabled.

The dealer said it isn’t compatible with the 2018 but I think they are just trying to sell me their system.

    Thanks

My understanding on a 17 is it needs to be enabled with tech-stream and you don’t need the jumper.

Did you end up needing a tech-stream to set up the factory alarm on your 2018?

No I didn’t I just had to turn the sensor up to 8

I have a TRD Sport so I guess if you have the factory alarm it’s already activated

Cool, so I also have a 2018 TRD Sport. Basically the only thing you didn't hook up was the wire plug under the hood then? I took that same picture you did with the harness under the hood. Was confused with that part.

Ok all you experts? I bought a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport like two weeks ago. Kind of got screwed I feel by the dealer? I thought I bought one with an (ALARM) in it since it has stickers saying TOYOTA ALARM on the windows. But in the finance office the guy that wanted to get me out the door cause he wanted to go home said do you want to pay for the alarm or we will disable it? I didn't pay more so some things seen to work and others don't?
I have 2 remotes with panic and unlock and lock with keyless entry. Now the panic button works but if I open the door with the window down and the doors locked with remote no alarm sound and If I bang on windows no alarm sound. I went back to customer care they said my truck was traded from another dealer and didn't come with the KARR alarm Toyota dealers install on their vehicles! Funny thing is if you remove the kick paned there is aftermarket alarm wires installed going to what looks like a mounted box behind the knee panel on the left side along with a Valet button installed that looks like a fake obII but smaller and has I believe a green button in it. My question is How do I re in able the missing functions or do I have to pay Toyota a lot of money to restore what they removed?

    Thanks

Does a truck equipped with the factory alarm already have the glass break sensor?

Mine has the alarm but do not have the GBS installed. Installed at a later date.

Was the key fob well away from the vehicle when you tried to see if it had an alarm? Won't work if key fob is near vehicle. Been there done it redid it.
To minimize noise, keep the actual key in the door lock. Use it to disable the alarm instead of the extra time to get the fob.
My 18 DCSB OR didn't come with the GBS. I added it myself, plug and play, and it worked.

Where do you get a GBS? How much does one cost? Where and how do you install it?

    Thanks

I didn't even know my truck had an alarm. I just tested it by sitting in the truck and locking the doors with the fob, waiting 30 seconds, and then manually unlocking the door at the inside handle. Loud noises and flashing lights. Now to see if I have a gbs.

Purchased at the dealer I bought the truck at $167 before tax. Toyota part number PT39835160. Make sure it fits your vehicle because there are variations out there. This requires keyless entry.

It goes under the driver side dash. Microphone goes in the empty(unless you filled it with something else) spot to the lower left of the steering wheel. Not hard to do at all, have them print the directions for you or search the web for them. Use care with the trim clips in removing and replacing.

Can you use these (factory security system and GBS) in addition to an aftermarket security system like a clifford? Just installed a clifford 3706x and it is located underneath the truck attached to the frame.
