Yesterday I spoke to a contractor who has an 07 Taco and I asked him if that was the same truck he had some years back with over 300k miles, he said yes and now has over 500k miles, same engine and trans, no major work done, had to replace the rear diff. and some bolt on stuff, across from his was my 16 TRD OR with Pro grill, he said it was cool and I said, I don't think it will last like yours and he said, the 07's were the best ones. What do you guys think?

2000 4Runner. My daily driver since new for 17 years with no major repairs. In the end I needed to spend more on her than she was worth so I traded up (?) to my 2017 Tacoma. I doubt I'll have this one for 17 years, but who knows? Just over one year in and no problems at all.

The 3rd gen is still relatively young so it's gonna be a while until we find out, but I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts long considering how "underpowered" it feels for some people, which could be a good thing for the engine since it's always under a minimal amount of stress, heck with ect off I'm almost always in the 1100-1500 rpm range while under 50mph...

Who knows what the transmission longevity will be though with the "constant" transmission gear changing.

I think theyre all going to be reliable regardless of gen. It will take them a few years to iron out the kinks in the 3.5, but it seems like theyre in it for the long haul as well.

Most people don't get this Toyota truck thing. People would see my 2000 4Runner and say "you still driving that thing" or "you need a new car". The fact is, in 17 years she never left me stranded until our last day together . Sad, but nothing a new 4x4 Tacoma DCSB couldn't fix :taco:

My local dealer had a T100 with 500k on it, Toyota makes good trucks.

I'm pretty sure the 3.5's will last just fine. Its down tuned. Toyota's been cranking this engine out since the 2nd gen refresh. Its the tranny that is the dog in my opinion.

Fingers crossed, but I expect to put at least 200k on this one without too much issue. If 3rd gens start dropping like flies it hurts resale value. I don't think Toyota would take that risk.
