I am a 3rd gen owner, or as you early adapters like to call us the turd gen. There it is a lot of shitting on the third gen from the rest of the crowd and apparently it got so bad the banhammer had to come out. I get a lot of it is in good fun and personally don't care at all, but I think some guys honestly think we are all a bunch of whiney babies who want crazy things like a powered driver seat  That said, I try to wave at every taco I see, I don't care how old it or it's driver is, and most people don't wave back.

I get that a lot of people just don't wave, there is a metric shit ton of tacos out there and it's too much to wave at all of them.

But would any of you not wave back simply because I am 3rd gen cry baby who hasn't earned his stripes? :angrygirl: I sorta hope some of you are like that, every community needs its loyalists

It's a custom from where I'm from, but once I moved to Hawaii I found nobody here waves back so I stopped.

Edit: that might have something to do with Tacomas being the official state truck of Hawaii... so yeah, they'd be waving all day long. You can't throw a stone and not hit a Tacoma or homeless person on Oahu

Most people here consider their vehicles along the same line as a toaster or washing machine. If they don't, it's because they think their vehicle is better than anything you're driving.

That said, if a 3rd genner waved at me, I'd wave back. They might think I'm creepy though because I like the 3rd gen styling and tend to stare whenever one goes by.

I stare at trucks all the time, I figure it's a compliment to the owner of the vehicle.

I wave at the lowest of lowrider 1st gens to the highest of high 3rd gen mall crawlers and every taco in between.

Don't often get a wave back though, and when I do it's usually a confused okay you waved so I guess I'll wave.

Taco's just don't have the same brotherhood as bikes and jeeps.

    That's okay, I still wave.

This is pretty much my experience, but people like us will always be waving trying to get it going!

It's not a wave so much as it's a glance of approval for the mods done when me and other Tacoma's cross paths. I straighten my fingers off the wheel at 1st gen 4Runners though out of respect.

I don’t usually wave at stock trucks. Theirs a lot of tacoma’s Running up and down the road here. Now modified trucks, I do wave at about half the time I get a wave back lol

It was the same deal on the xterra boards, always waved at xterra’s but sadly no wave backs.:anonymous:

    Two kids.
Back when I had a MINI I would wave when I saw another one. Those cars were fairly rare back then. There are so many Tacomas around here that my arm would fall off if I waved at all of them. I saw 3 during my 7 minute commute to work this morning. There are usually 4 in the lot I park in which is only about 100 yards long with 2 rows.

But, if someone in a Tacoma waved at me, I'd wave back. That being said ...

I'm not a 'waver'. Although as @Key-Rei mentioned, the Tacoma is not a bike or Jeep. I rode a motorcycle for a while and would always wave to other bikers who, 95% of the time, would wave back.
It's just my opinion but, I think it's a respect thing to the biker and Jeep owners that I'm not infringing on 'their wave'.

I occasionally wave. There's two or three storm troopers in the hoods around here that all wave back. I have an old fast back vette. The cut off for the nod is the '73. Once the steel bumpers left then they are on their own lol.
