Same! Now I need to find a RTT :)

Somehow the wife hasn't asked the build to stop just yet.

I believe most RTT annex's have velcro straps inside to help fold up some of the excess material. Here is a pic of my setup so you can see how the annex sits.

So what you're saying is I'm going to need to spend another $5k before I'm happy? HAHAH nice setup!

Perfect! Thank you for the picture. How is the headroom in the annex?

Plenty of headspace if you don’t stand under the platform that folds out. If your under 5’8” you wouldn’t have to duck on my setup. I have to slightly hunch over to access the bed. 0428CC9F-3870-4326-BFA5-30B216A83B68.jpg 23BE08CF-3CE8-4923-8D3B-D541BDC73B5D.jpg

The tent is a CVT Mt Shasta Extended Pioneer. The rack is from KB Vodoo. There are l brackets to make it compatible with a tonneau cover. Can’t open the tonneau with the rack on it though

That’s an Allpro that I picked up from the marketplace, and welded some stuff to.

Well alright...finally got this rack taken care of for the most part (still needs a coat of paint).

Here's how that shit went down. Sorry for the crappy pics my phone is on the way out.

    1) The rack, which I picked up from @Korndog1284 was a little tall sitting above cab height by about 2-3 inches. Shit was goofy af.
    IMG_1714a.jpg

    2) Because I want the RTT as high as possible, but not stupid high, I decided to chop 3" off the rack risers. Reference points and cuts were made with the rack on the truck to prevent any shifting/twisting, which would have made reassembly more difficult.
    IMG_1846a.jpg
    IMG_1848.jpg
    IMG_1849.jpg

    3) Once the rack was cut and removed from the base plates it was time to notch the plates to accommodate the truck box. With the L-shaped base plates dropping into the bed, the overall width between the rack was 56-1/4". I needed 56-1/2" to fit the box in between the rack. I also needed 22-1/2" for the depth of the box. The solution was to notch the part of the base that drops into the bed. This would allow the front rack bars to slide closer to the cab and allow the box to sit tight against the front of the bed vs. a 2" gap between the back of the box and the front of the bed.

    IMG_1854fa.jpg

    4) Then it was just a matter of reassembling the rack onto the plates in the same orientation as pre-fab, which actually went smooth as butter.

    IMG_1855.jpg
    IMG_1856.jpg

    5) After the welding was complete we hit it with some paint to prevent rusting until we await a sunny day in Seattle (TBD). Threw the rack back on the truck, set the box in and bingo.

    IMG_1859.jpg
    IMG_1858.jpg

The box fits perfectly inside the rack (width-wise). The lid does NOT open alllllll the way, but unless I'm stuffing a half cow in there then there is no issue (box opens about 14"). The nice thing about this setup is that it allows me to keep my truck box for storage AND allows me to upgrade to a 4+ person RTT without interfering with the cab.

Time for some rotopax and an RTT then my wallet needs a break.
