does the tailgate lock

When I took the 09 for a test drive I didn’t look to see if the tailgate locks, and mine wont be here for another 4 weeks. Does it lock? I can’t find an answer on the Toyota web site and in all the pictures I can’t see a place for a key near the handle. Thanks for the help

 

Not on the '09s as far as I know. The spot where the key should go is where the camera is. You can always do the hose clamp mod though.

I e-mailed pop-lock and they said they'd have one available for the '09s in November.

 

No 05+ tacoma tailgate locks. Some put on a pop lock or do the mod with the clamp (search tailgate mod or look in PT's mod thread). I think someone emailed pop n lock & the vendor said they would be engineering a new one for the 09s with back up camera.

edit: tacoco has it covered on the 09s. I have a pop n lock on mine that no longer works due to salty vermont winters, even with using lock lube, PB blaster, the thing is hosed fwiw. The tailgate clamp mod however gives some security that my gate won't end up on ebay without a fight.
