For those of you looking to get a 2018 Tacoma I advise against it. The crash assist system is crap. Mine has been malfunctioning since the first work I bought it. Toyota has already had it 2 times and a total of 4+ week, and two visits from an engineer. I have had the truck back for three weeks and it has started to malfunction again. Hopefully they will acceept the lemon this time and exchange it. Just thought I would share my exeexperie

Is that TSS? If so, I thought you can disable it.

Take it back, request a loaner. Do not let up on them until your truck is operating the way it should be.

Sucks, hope they can finally get you taken care of.

There's always the option of disabling it permanently and paying attention while driving instead of having a computer pay attention for you.

my little light came on this morning and i wiped off the sensor with my hand but the light is still on....i too would like to know so when i go in for my 5k i can bring it up.... it doesn't stop the truck from functioning like a truck, the only thing that crap does is stop the truck for you while cruise is on or tell you when you're to close to something....did you buy the truck specifically for all the safety stuff?

"my exeexperie" - what's this exeexperie you speak of?? :confused:o_O

Well for a lemon you need a 3-peat. 2x is not enough. So you gotta take it back 1 more time and give them the chance to make it right.

"3x a charm" as they say. Ask for a Tundra loaner this time cause I bet they keep the truck a while. Don't settle for any mambie-pambie Prius. Tell them your wear man pants and need TRUCK not a go-cart. If I wanted a Prius I'd have bought one... all that jazz!

That's not the point. I don't use my Qi charger, but if it isn't working, you bet I'll be at the dealer for a fix.

This is a feature that is supposed to work, something the guy paid for, and something a bit more integral to safety to daily driving than a charger. I would not be satisfied with the dealership shrugging this guy off.

I don't go to the dealer for anything anymore. If something needs fixed, I do it. It's the old "if you want something done right, do it yourself" method. I ripped out my BSM and backup sensors 2 weeks after I bought the truck, reassigned the QI charger power to my CB, and cut off all the rear suspension mounts and welded in better stuff.

I understand that it's suppose to work, but IMO, it's a useless system that will only create complacency for those that like to not pay attention.
Dependency on technology in this day and age is creating more problems than it should. I don't trust the computer to fly my $38 million dollar office, so I monitor everything it does and when it's not playing nice, I turn it off so me and my passengers don't get dead because some Bill Gates nerd thought a computer could do dead reckoning better.

If I could doable it and get no indicators on the dash in would be ok with it. I would also love to disable the cruise control sonar as well but no option to.
