I can't let the wife know
Hit a ladder on the freeway and when I got a chance to inspect underneath didn't see any damage. One night pulling into my driveway I heard a loud thump. Checked my suspension and everything looked normal. Coming out of a store into my truck I noticed the skid plate hanging lower. Checked it when I got home and found screw treads are toast. I have a tap and die set but can't find the correct size. Thinking of just drilling straight through and using a longer screw with a nut. Any thoughts? 20180319_185405.jpg

Just bump the bolt up a size. A good crossthread is better than no thread.

Heli Coil and some Loktite (red) Heli Coil kit, you are going to drill out threads and re tap with enclosed kit tap and then insert coil. Once in, take a punch and knock top ear off coil.
Most likely the threads are going to be metric in original bolt (I am assuming)

If your worried about keeping correct size a helicoil or thread sert. Google says the thread size is M8x1.25.
Depending on what you want to spend here.
If you have metric taps you could try changing the thread pitch.
A M8x1 may produce usable threads but won’t take being over torqued.
Moving up to a M10 would require drilling about .100 material needs to removed for this. But .060 approx is thread so not a big deal.
Or if you don’t care about maintaining all metric a 3/8-16 should cut a new thread with out drilling. Just take your time and keep it straight or it can go bad. But then your ready to try again with the M10x1.5.
Thru bolts would also work if you have access to both nut and bolt!!
    Sorry I’m a machinist.
Nothing worse than stripped threads or broken taps!!!!

I'd say tack weld it on, but then you couldn't take it off to add some more of those cool stickers. :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:
