*****everyone please know I just posted this to ask opinion, I have no intention of not wanting ADS, its what I wanted and I still do. and in no way am am I trying to bash against ADS, at all. everything from the welds or just the end caps its all heavy duty.******

just got my shocks from ads, and well one of the rear shocks has some weird oxidation. they said it wont effect performance of shock in terms of the body rusting or corroding etc.. but the shocks are expensive, so what would you do in my situation?

They’ll get scratched from dirt/stones on the trail anyway - just use them and enjoy them!!!

My 3 week old TRD suspension doesn’t look shiny and new anymore either. Use your kick ass ADS coils and don’t worry about some minor finish blems unless it actually contributes to rusting in which case that’s what warranty is for.

I would ignore it, because it’s not an issue. I didn’t buy them to be shiny things. The fuck.

This guy's set looks the same, so I think maybe that's just how they are.

thanks, I don't mind too much about the oxidation, just for a nice and expensive shock things like that imo should be looked into as well. but thanks everyone for the positive response.

It is kind of bullshit that something new and expensive isn't perfect from factory as far as finish. However, maybe this is how they are supposed to be...? They are going to get dirty, but it is BS IMO. You charge an arm and a leg for a product but don't ship it pristine...than don't charge and arm and a leg for it ADS. What those run like $1,300?

Clean them up and coat them with Sharkhide. Then will stay like new for years. Also will rinse clean very easy. But I would also send them a note, telling them for that kind of money expect them in A1 shape.

I don't think there's any cleaning those up.
ADS uses a 'clear' hardcoat anodized finish.
AFAIK, that's a contradiction; and would explain the discoloration.

there are expensive, and that was my first thought. I know it in no way effects performance. but they were very expensive, not 1300 but still pricey, so yea I felt they should have checked the product before installing.

but who am I to say or judge.

ADS doesn't know if these were going on a show truck. In most cases that's not happening but if it was your shop truck for marketing purposes I'd be rather disappointed. You could always try a wheel chrome polish with a polisher tool thing to get em looking right.

If it bothers you, I would return them, and buy a set of kings. Personally I would put them on, you wont notice anything after a couple trails.
