Is the rear end howl only on 4x4 models or 2wd as well?

No it's not the same differential sizes. 2wd's have not reported the problems, just people with 4wd seem to have this issue. I am not saying that it isn't possible for a 2wd to howl. The 2wd's had/have the leaking differentials along with some 4wd's. To my knowledge nothing has been corrected at the assembly plants. A lot of us have come to the conclusion you want a truck that was built on a tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Monday and Friday you may have more issues:rofl:

Those are in the off road section and may qualify. The sport and sr5 are the 2wd models that do not have howling issues, but may have leaking or seeping diffs.

I am one of them..... and yes, all of the 2wds I know do not have a howl in the diff. Sport or sr5. A couple of them are the off road model and no howl there either.
