So first off setup I'm going to run in near future

    2012 tacoma v6
    Manual trans
    Afe stage 2 cai
    Magnuson sc
    Upgraded fuel kit urd
    2.85 pulley

Pros and cons trd flash vs uconn

Can I even run a Trd flash safely? When I called Magnuson tech said no. The Trd flash is not compatable?

The trd flash is compatible with the magnuson supercharger. It is what I am running. If you plan to go ucon then do not get the trd flash, I've heard it doesn't always play nice with the ucon. If you plan on just doing the supercharger and maybe a 2.85 pulley I would get the trd flash. If you plan on getting a smaller pulley or a 7th injector or other performance mods and want the most out of your truck the ucon might be best for you. Also if you have not already I would plan on replacing your clutch with something more heavy duty than stock. Most people agree the stock clutch is not up for the job with the supercharger.

Hmmm I've got 27k on my 2012. I've read about needing a clutch upgrade but was hoping I could wear out my old clutch before doing an upgrade. Seem like ucon is the way to go for my build. Anyone have experience installing the ucon?

Check your ECU calibration first, if it's flashed once, TRD flash is not possible.

Installing the UCON itself is just plug&play, but the cam gears need some tools. Just the same prosedure than this: http://www.aprpower.com/pdfs/Cam Gear Installation.pdf
Plus the thermostat, but it's easy thing.

Your clutch is fine. Change it if you burn it.

    @FinnJ
I have the .pdf pulled up and I see that there is a table near the end listing year model, transmission exc. with "Target Calibration ID" and "Supercharger Calibration ID" I was thinking that the "Target Calibration ID" would be a number on the outside of the ECU. (Trying to verify if my ECU could be re-flashed) These numbers look nothing like what I am seeing on multiple ECU pictures on the internet. I'm guessing that this means I just need to schedule an appointment with Toyota and they will be able to see both of these codes on the special computer they have? As in pay them $100 to hook it up and let them tell me if it's a compatible ECU? I currently have a N/A truck but would like to purchase 455cc injectors and re-flash for the supercharger. I have found the "orange TRD Denso Injectors" for as low as $122.00ea. I emailed five-0 motorsports yesterday and they have two options 380cc Denso injectors or 450cc Bosh injectors $80ea with harness adapters. What injectors did you buy? Looks like the options are:
    • URD 61lb or 80lb (both would require UCON ECU) = $1860
    • FIVE-o motorsport 380cc or 450cc = $480
    • Denso/Toyota orange injectors =$732

    My truck:
2006 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4 Base A/T (with leaky driver side axle "unfixable")

Please give me your thoughts as well as anyone else that wants to give their $00.02
    Thanks,
    Joe

I'd budget in a urd stage 2 clutch as well. I wish I had. Mine slips from time to time with the trd supercharger with no mods other than the Toyota reflash.

The #s outside of the ECU is just the Toyota part # of the actual ECU (hardware/computer brain). The ecu calibration file (target calibration ID) is the software on the ecu/computer. And yes, the special computer at the dealership should be able to tell you what calibration ID file is currently being used by your ECU.

Supercharger injectors and flash without the supercharger. Why?

Download Techstream software for free and buy $15 Mini-VCI cable and you have access to your ECU with your laptop. I can highly recommend, you’ll see a lot of useful data with it.

Was this for the orange denso injector or larger aftermarket injector?

Another aftermarket brand of a higher flow rate.
