Just picked up a Pioneer AVH-3100DVD for the Taco. I plan to tow a trailer cross contry this summer (with my Yamaha on it) so am considering putting in a backup camera as well - esp since the headup is already set up for it

I did not want to pay the $150 for the Pioneer backup camera that is recomended with the unit becasue the aftermarket cams sell so much cheaper.

Anyone have any experince using a non-Pioneer cam with a Pioneer (or other) headunit. Interested in how/where you mounted the cam and any pros/cons you experienced.

    Thank you.

I bought a $20 camera from ebay and it worked fine (HU stolen, so I don't use it anymore).

Buy a 2009/2010 pop and lock, it has the camera hole it already, I am designing a camera bracket that will fit in that location. Price unknown as od yet, but should not be too bad.

Thank you all. Currently, cost is my biggest consideration. Been spending a lot of money on the taco, preparing for the move to Ontario this summer and need to keep it in check.

I am going to try the ebay route like mjonags32 suggested above. Looks like it has the night vision capabilty as well.
