Are there step bars that frame mount not rocker panel mount? Living in salt country you can view lots of rotted out rocker panels where the step bars attach. Not a good solution in my area where the street still look like they were chalk coated.
    Thanks

You could always kill two birds with one stone and get some bolt on sliders that stick way out and then wrap them with line-x for foot grip on the top

Use fluid film and coat the inside of rockers really good. They make sliders that weld to the frame

Pull the rubber rocker plugs and spray Fluid Film in there, replace plugs afterwards. If anything coat the area between the body and steps with grease before mounting to keep rust from forming between.

Starting to sound like a bolt on slider may be the best idea as long as it can be used as a step up. Suggestions? DCSB.

Only thing I can suggest is fluid film your whole truck if you live in a heavy salt area. I like the shark aluminum running boards that mount to the rockers. Your frame will rot out faster then the rockers anyways if you don’t treat them.

I use a service called RUSTOP. Its a sticky penetrating creeping oil product. Sprayed on inside and out. Every year and no rust on 20 yr old vehicles. I have done vehicles every other year and no rust at the 10 year point. You can have it sprayed and one month later it still weeping from the doors on a hot day and starts creeping up inside coming out of the gas filler door port.

I would say your good to go then and wouldn’t worry about rocker mounted running boards, I believe they hold 500lbs per side. Just make sure they sprayed inside your rockers.
