Wanting real life, real feel, real opinions, whether you like, dislike, on the fence or whatever, about the 888s and Dakar leaf pack.
I had a 2008 DCSB Dakars and 5100s, never was too happy with the ride, was very stiff, but that was then...Now, I have a 18 and don't want it riding like a tank with the new lift. I know they offer new softer valving shocks, and light duty springs, so was trying to get some feedback on the ride quality...
#1, for those w the 888 OME/Dakar setup, are you 100% satisfied with the ride??
    #2 OME/3 LEAF add
    #3 OME/Single leaf add
Before I pull the trigger, trying to get some concrete love from your choices..

Went with the 888s, Dakar medium duty leaf pack and Nitro shocks. Rides like factory with 2-3/4" lift. Works just like I wanted

What size tires are your running, and did you need control arms to get the alignment back in spec?

    285's 17s.
I had done similar lift on my 08 and went ahead and changed the uca's during lift. So not exactly sure if I "didn't" need them, but for the price, was just easier because all I had to do was swap em out.
If you are on the fence about it. Go ahead and swap em. You will have a better peace of mind and if you spend the $$ and stocks won't spec out at aligmemt, then you have to
#1- swap out control arms- more labor
    #2- pay for another alignment
Just soon do it once and be done with it.

Hey OP- doing research now for my new truck.. had 5100’s / 885s and LR UCAs with 2”AAL on my previous truck (2015 DCSB)- wasn’t super impressed with the ride up front but loved the ground clearance and having the extra capacity in the rear.

With the new truck (2018 DCSB) I’m considering a similar set up as you and upgrading a little from my first lift. I’m pretty certain I want to run the Dakar leafs (medium) in the back and I’m 90% sure I’m going with OME Nitros, but I’m stil not sure whether to pair those with 887s or 888s.

Did the 888s take you level with the rear or is it close to factory rake? I use my truck a ton so want to keep the rake as close to factory as possible. After breaking it in - anything you’d change?

    Thanks!

Sorry I missed this, but I feel as though I lost a little bit of rake, not much, but I like this look better. I don't like a straight level look, just small amount of rake. I have loaded the back several times, and the springs worked flawlessly. The ride is the best ride I have ever had on my last 3 Tacomas. I'm completely sold on the 888's. The only dpownfall is the squeak you will get over a period of time with the rear leafs. That's just characteristics of them from what I'm told. I loosened everything up after 8-9 months and re-sprayed them with lithium grease. I'm sure it will just be added to routine maintenance.

Sure thing. This is how it settled after 8 months. Rougjly close to 2-3/4 total front and rear.

Cool. I planned on using headstrong 1/4” spacers too. Hoping for a level stance.

The squeaking is driving me nuts on the dakars ...almost makes me wish I had just put a block in . Bought the best suspension lube I could find , going to pull everything apart, when I have time , pull the bushings and lube the snot out of them . I guess theres are holes In the springs where you can put a grease gun into as well .

I ended up doing the same thing after a couple of months. I felt as though the front end still had too much rake. The 1/4" ones are on this pic. This is the look I wanted, you may want to go 1/2" for a flat stance.

Did you drop the diff? Looks like an extra $50.

At first I didn't...but had a vibration on deceleration around 15-20mph. I went ahead and did that first. That didn't help it, and ended up putting 4° shims in the rear springs to change the pinion angle, haven't had an issue since. 20k miles on the lift. So....tbh...not sure if I ever needed the drop or not...but it helped with the CV boot angle

One thing I did notice...the front springs have lost about 1/2-3/4" of their lift. I haven't actually put a tape to the truck, but it's noticeable the 888s haven't held up to the challenge..and I do not off road or push it. @HeadStrong Off-Road

No...I have been told, they want to send the springs back, which would mean, my truck would be down, until they decide what the culprit is...Kinda have me held over a barrel, no one has a spare set of struts just "laying around"...and another alignment, then another after the reinstall of the whatever solution is...So i've almost started looking to just get a leveler kit spacer for the top of the strut at this point. 1" SHOULD put it back where it was originally. I LOVE the ride, it's the closest to factory that I have ever experienced, just wish it would have kept the height

Looks good at that stance to me. I cam definitely see why you don't wanna take your front suspension apart to ship back springs. That seems pretty unreasonable.
