Anybody have any luck with jave rifle hunt this weekend? I was supposed to be out this weekend but I got stuck on call so I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off so I can go. It's going to be kind of a Hail Mary hunt but you never know.

 

Had some friends out last week and the wind was bad down south... Never did see anything.

 

Just got back from 34A. Our camp took 7 pigs this year.

 

Yea, I've been worried about the wind. I talked to a guy I know who had a ham tag and saw some real fresh sign when he was out, but he thought that due to the wind they came out, ate and bedded back down. I hoping I'll have better luck.

I just heard from another buddy, they are 3 for 3 this weekend.. Said they spent majority of the time 90% of the time behind glass, got lucky and picked up a large herd of about 20. They were down south in 36, wind wasn't too bad they said... im sure with the wind being down, they got up and moved around a lot more.

 

It's encouraging to hear that people are harvesting. Now I just have to get my ass out of bed at 3 am so I can get to mescal before sun up.

Anywhere to shoot gophers?

 

I go down by red rock.... drive down the dirt roads with a 22 looking for whitesides and gophers... Seligman and williams is another hot spot.​

i just creep along the dirt roads looking for whitesides and gophers are just a bonus.. Stay on trust or BLM land, watch out for cows out there and ranch homes..
